Hoyed the barn door on and went for an MOT, sailed it. Glad I changed the indicators and flasher relay (£20.00 @ WeMoto) last few tests had advisories regarding the slow flashing, bonus weather, no rain today,1st time this week!
Went over the Milltir Cerrig to Bala for a brew at Manons cafe at the white water rafting centre. Then went down the B4391 (best road in Wales) to Ffestiniog. Through a rammed Beddgelert and up towards Snowdon. Dinner in Betws-y-Coed at the cafe near the train station and then through Clocaenog forest to Ruthin. Brew and cake at the Ponderosa on the way back towards home. Nice day except for some heavy showers from the Ponderosa onwards
The green welly bit of a shithole. But they did sell me 2 plastic bags for my feet when my boots failed touring Scotland on the blade
A perfect 3 days playing in the highlands and outer Hebrides in the sun on some superb pretty empty roads, a decent 800 miles over 3 days riding with a couple of more days down the west coast and homewards
With the forecast for today (Sunday) being so pants went out yesterday instead. Not a fan of Saturday riding usually, but conditions were ideal in the morning and traffic wasn’t heavy so all good. As ever ended up in Southport at the pier head around 10:30 and it was dead. Only one bike and no tourists or locals ambling about. Went to the little cafe for a brew as usual and the owner said it’s been like this since the incident on Tuesday. Everyone’s staying away fearing it’s a rough place, there maybe another attack or wanting to avoid any protest march/subsequent trouble. Left around 40 minutes later but it never picked up any - very bizarre.
Broadbottom garden centre bike meet. Epic burgers from their resident butcher. An opportunity to use the MTX which we’re thinking of taking to the Manx
I've sacked the Blade off this year in favour of hooning around on one of the road legal track bikes. It's amazing how much fun you can have with only 50 HP Went with some mates around Helmsley, Stokesley, Wetwang and Whitby. I might have to get back in to this touring lark as I've spent the last few years mainly on track. WhatsApp Video 2024-08-13 at 20.59.05 by gary anon
Ale of Maun on the trailies. The MTX80R is 41 years of age this year and is handling the trails with aplomb. The DT is a mere 25 years of age.
Lovely run out today from the infamous Garstang Conveniences. Went northeast passed Quernmore and over the river at Halton, through Arkholme to Devils Bridge. Didn’t stop but went up through Casterton, Sedbergh, before turning east to Hawes and then on to Leyburn. turned back to Hawes and south down to Ribblehead Viaduct. Carried on through Settle, Wigglesworth to Sawley before cutting back across west through Clitheroe and Longridge before going our separate ways at Broughton. Didn’t get as sunny as was expected but roads were dry and fairly quiet in the main. All in all a cracking run out with @Selmer50mark and @Manfred
An early one today to take advantage of the good weather. Roads a little damp in places but got 80 decent miles in and back home before it turned very grey, windy and the inevitable rain.
Had a cracking ride out today Rivington, Belmont, Clitheroe, Settle, Ribblehead, ingleton, The Bridge and thought I’d just drop on the M6 at Galgate to get home and there’s a bloody idiot threatening to jump. Motorway closed in both directions. EDIT 2.5 hours later they didn’t jump (surprise surprise) but once released the Que on the other side was over halfway back to the M55 junction. Imagine it was as bad going south. What a wanker
Into my Garage to prep the R1 for a nice Blast only to find the rear tyre flat as a pancake must have got a slow puncture on my last ride, didn't feel a thing
