Has anyone got a home EV charger they can recommend?? Got an electrician doing some work on the house next week and need to get a charger fitted. He said he can supply and fit but prefers customers to supply their own! So what you got?
Had a Pod Point one installed a few months back Great for finding out how much i need to charge back to my employer Gives readings on peak levels, manages the charge and you can download reports Had a 7.2 kw fitted and works fine Cost much as all the others Jerry
She hasn't got a clue what it is!! First time I charged it she thought it was a hands free petrol pump!!
PodPoint are pretty much the go too as you only need the 1 App if you want to pay to charge in public EV bays, unless you have solar, in which case I'd go Zappi. You've just got to decide whether you want the charger to be tethered or untethered.
I've used public charging bays twice so far (in two months) which isn't bad going but still found them quite expensive. Once its fitted at the new house and I've moved there, I dont intend on using public chargers again.......and I don't have solar panels. I'll probably not bother with the app either if charging at home, just want to plug it in and leave it. The car can schedule start times and I can control what percentage battery charges to, normally 80% as per Audi recommendations. Car came with the standard portable charger with different attachments plus a 5 meter Type 2 charging cable so I'll probably use that and get an untethered one!
I got a Polestar 2 a few weeks back. They had a offer for a free charger, and installed a Ohme charger at my house. It's pretty good, the app works well. My neighbour has a Podpoint. He's fairly happy with it. I think they are the same price roughly, so best to go with the one you like. The main decision is most likely whether you want a tethered or untethered unit.
