As most know i purchased my first DSLR as a christmas prezzie for my self , it was intended for taking some decent quality pics of my son but as most photography enthusiasts know , Its so addictive !! I still dont have a clue and have only been using the Aperture priority and shutter priority modes when learning and the scene mods when I'm taking lots of pics of leigh riding his bike and running about etc . I bought a book intended for teaching a beginner to use my exact camera model which has been great bt the best tips I'm getting are from buying photography mags and reading the top tips and advise sections . Last month i had a mag that gave a quick guide to HDR's . I know its a love it or hate it genre but i thought they looked fun and seeing as i have our store copy of CS5.5 Master collection on my machine i downloaded a popular HDR plug in and had a play . These are a few of the final images ( Im posting these up for criticism so be mean !! ha ha ) I will learn from my mistakes Thanks for looking
Cracking Dan. I love the doorway shot. The landscape's not that realistic though, it's not raining. Try using 'Calculations'. It's in the image pull down. It'll convert your colour images to monochrome and give you control over a virtual red, green and blue filter set to change the contrast in each wavelength. A heavy red filter in black and white makes a blue sky black while keeping the clouds white. You're right to let the technology do its job on the fast moving mini me but perservere with the manual operation when you have the time to think, it's what separates the men from the boys.
Nik Software .. HDR Efex Pro . All of these where made up of 5 exposures but iv been advised to try 3 so that i don't over cook them
Cheers mate , Ill have a play with that when i get 5 . I won an older lens cheap on ebay that is all manual . The only thing i can control on the camera when using it is the shutter speed so I'm hoping that will progress the learning
In the old days we used to use a thing called film. And it came in boxes with little pictures on the inside of the sun and clouds and recommended aperture and shutter speed settings when the drawings matched what you saw in the sky. Best light meter you could use. After a while you could outdoors, look around and think f8 125/. You can't teach it, you've got to do it. Ooh, Kelly Jones is on the Ronnie Wood show. I love the Stereophonics. Where's me remote?
There great Dan. Give Photomatrix pro a go, you use 3 bracketed photo. You can download it to Did you set your camera up to take bracketed photos?, if you can use a tripod to, but that not critical
Yeah used a tripod and took 5 exposures , 2 over and 2 under I have photo matrix but not had a go yet .. Soon as i get chance ill have a play
Also download topaz adjust 5, it a great plug in too Torrent list - Demonoid Sneak Peek into the NEW Topaz Adjust
Cheers guys ,, Im really starting to like pics of buildings, the older the better but i have been told today that i need a license to shoot castles ?? Its a shame if i do coz I'm a mile away from at least 8 in different directions . Any body kn ow the law on this ? surly you can take photos of any buildings for personal use ?
I think it's more likely to be a permit than a licence as such. There are few laws restricting you while photographing from a public place, but the owners of a property can restrict you within their grounds. It's mainly for pros, to stop them making money on the view without payback, but it's a grey area for amateurs. Email their general enquiries. Some place don't even charge for a permit, they just like to be asked.
