    How to reproduce

This is my first post. I've recently part exchanged my CBR600RRA to a CBR1000RR RR ABS in B/W. I'm just learning about the bike, my first impressions on test riding and post purchase are that these bikes are literally awesome.
Whilst the CBR600RR feels a tad more nimble and a little more forgiving over uneven surfaces and potholes I was suprised by how light but planted the Fireblade felt and of course the considerable additional punch.
I would like to know how to reproduce the problem, so I can check if my bike is affected. So spill the beans, how do I check?

Hi Seeker - Welcome to the forum.

Every Blade is affected. To reproduce it you need to push the bike forwards and backwards at full lock completing a 360 degree turn. Forward a few paces, then back like you are doing a 5 point turn. Then when you turn the ignition off you will hear the brake servos make a noise when you pull the lever.

It may not happen straight away but keep trying and it will.

Any more help you need PM me. It is worth highlighting to your dealer that you want the new ECU fitted.

Hey Rob, this is screwy... yesterday I rode 30 miles, returned to my bike after 10 hours, and the battery was too low to start the engine. Tried a few more goes, but no luck. Managed to jump start it, rode the 30 miles back home. Then 5 hours later this morning the bike started just fine, and restarted. Put a multimeter to the battery it read 12.26v ignition off and 14.26 engine on and then 12.96 off dropping gradually through 12.80 over a few minutes. So totally confused if the ECU issue completely drains the battery then this is not what happened, since their was still enough charge to turn the starter motor but just not enough to fire her up.
Honda dealer suggested getting an Optimate. Any thoughts? Does this sound like ECU problem?

    Hi.

I'm 99% certain that it is the ABS ECU problem. It is the exact same problem I had (bike cranked but not enough juice to start). It is intermittent and you never know when it will happen again.

I'd really push back to Honda that you have a problem and you need it fixed. If you want I can PM you the letter I sent to Honda UK (who are well aware of the fault and should have no issues replacing the ECU under warranty).

    Rob.

Cheers for the PM Rob, I am making all sorts of noises now and waiting to see what happens. I have an incident number from Honda and am reliably informed from a particular dealership that a certain individual at Honda tech is "well aware of the issue and will know exactly what to do to fix it". So I wait for a response.

My battery has not run down at all yet but I get the problem with the lever pulling right into the bar at slow speed and then it returns with the next pump of the brake lever. Is this normal? I live on a hill and when I set off down the hill, if I instantly pull the front brake lever, it's as if there is nothing there, but if I pump it a couple of times it works ok. Bit weird and bit concerned it might catch me out one day although I am starting to get used to it!

Everything good, battery has not run down since! Not sure if I should start a new thread for this but theres something else; Under heavy braking I hear and feel a click/knock sound coming from the front under compression when slowing to standstill. Then when I accerlerate I hear and feel the same click/knock sound. Anyone got any thoughts on this? Showed this to a Honda dealer who said that this is to do with the floating caliper and is normal.

Can anyone tell me what I can check to see if my ECU has been changed already as I purchased a second hand Blade on a 59 plate.

Is there anything on the ECU itself that says its an upgrade at all.

    Thanks

The floating disk and the slipper clutch can both give a few unexpected clunks and clicks here and there if you are not used to hearing them!

Could be your lines knocking on the front fender.
Also, I have a small crack in my gixxer fender, and it 'knocks' on both braking and acceleration.

Just having a read of this old thread as my abs has thrown a wobbler on me today. Braked and the lever suddenly went soft the bite point changed. Then abs light was flashing away, close to home so rode it there. Switched off to reset and tried it again. But fault came back as soon as I braked again. I have normal braking but the bite point has changed. Bloody scary glad I was going slow at the time.
Booked in with local dealer next week to check it out, probably won't ride it. Will push to get updated ecu if they don't suggest it while in warranty.

Trying to find thread with same fault sure someone else had the same issue as me a while back.

I had the same problem when I had my C-ABS blade.
All honda do is bleed the system and tell you all will be ok from now on.
    Totally unacceptable!
I no longer have the ABS version.

Did Honda swap your bike to a non abs version?
