    I love the RC8, stunning bike with great performance. I have always been surprised they are not more popular than they are.

    If my blades abs does not get sorted I will get an RC8. Love the looks and sound not ridden one yet but I have been on an 848 and liked the twin experience but at 6ft2 I think the Ktm would fit better with its adjustable bits. Plus it would look at home next to my Ktm Sx 125. Surprised there not so popular either, but they got some bad press with the early ones having a few leaks and dodgy gear changes. But they have sorted these problems on the later models 09+ have they not?

    Do NOT buy the Ducati 848 EVO it is crap the RC8R and RSV4 beat it in every department handling and brakes , the 848 it a nothing bike , the 848 does everything but only just ok , nothing stands out totally over rated poo cart

    I believe the actual parting shot quote from Shane's on the KTM forum was 'sold the poo cart' or something of similar nature :)

    He knows I have one! (Hangs head in under 125bhp shame) But then I ride like your Gran! lol Problem is Shanes once you have had and thrashed D16RR's and WSB blades mate nothing under 200bhp will do! :D That and your racing skill mate makes all the others seem shite! :)

    Any one know if the value of the RC8 drops more than say a blade /Gsxr 1000. over a 12 months period the reason i ask is that they seem vey cheap second hand.

    yes i sold the poo cart , grand total of 420 km on the clock 300 of them on track . i just didn't want to throw all that money at it to make it handle and still have a shit engine .
    bike needs at minimum , term/Akra , ECU , -1 front +2 rear sprockets , triple clamps 23.5 degree rake 28mm offset , forks kitted , ttx rear ohlins , brembo master cylinder , bradded lines , new front pads , adj rear ride height link .
    so after all that you still are stuck with a V twin engine that has no torque and won't rev , so its just a waste of time really .

    they do make a great Starbucks bike , sunday ride to Starbucks park up out the front and look cool :-}}}}

    i have 2 mates here that love theirs but both of them have never ridden anything bigger than a scooter before and only been on track 2-3 times so don't know what handling is .

    Arthur i think you right after riding real bikes the poo cart really shows its massive flaws , i was not going to keep it just because its a Ducati i not into that brand bias . bike is just a tool so i needed a better one for the job i want it for ......

    I know what you mean mate, the 848 is way down on power over any 1l+ bike its loads of fun on twisty roads and ive got a load of mods on mine, bst wheels, ttx, r and t forks, termi and much more makes for a right laugh on the b roads but is eaten by most on m ways! But thats where the cbr cuts it also a good spec.. :D I am the other way round only ride on the road..

    Plus it makes you smile as you're walking up to it, just by looking. It's an underrated part of the enjoyment process in my opinion.

    The old test pilot adage of 'if it looks right, it'll fly right'.

    Mind you, it helps if you're shaped like a spider monkey. I felt like I was in a birthing chair riding it.

    The early 2008 RC8s dropped in price massively BUT a lot of this is due to KTM recently throwing a few unsold 08/09 models in to the market which they got from some warehouse in Austria. I've actually spoken to the head honcho for the UK just last week about it and he assures me there not many left of them, either way it dosnt help values whilst the dealers are still pimping them out.

    To be fair, an RC8 is much higher spec'd than a blade anyway, prices can only ever go so low, blades will always sell more cos they appeal to more people, are very easy to ride and aren't a V twin.

    If you bought a decent rc8 2nd hand for anywhere up to £7k then I reckon you'd be fine, they won't loose loads more value than that as they're more of a enthusiasts bike, like I say when those cheap brand new ones are gone things will pan out again.

    Besides, sports bikes are no longer an investment, all of them lose tons of value, currently the blade is staying high because the new model just isn't cutting it with folk, it's not different enough (as has been said on here by many) BUT you wait and see what happens if they drop a 2013 model next year with full TC and all the gubbins
