New shape RR8. Andy at Junction 33 is a full on nice guy and very honest. I believe him when he says most dynos are set to be "optomistic" as most bikers like to think theirs has the most power. Again it's pretty irrelevant really, no-one can use much more than 100bhp on the road anyway unless their last name is McGuiness or Martin.

I'm going to go for 166 before and 173 after.
Out of interest where are you taking it to be setup on the dyno and what do they charge?

Torque to me is the more relevant factor. I am more interested in acceleration than top speed really. Having said that, a bike with 100 bhp would not suit me one little bit. Been there and done that many years ago when there was not much option for a higher powered bike.

Take a look at my album,it shows me leading a Gixxer thou at Cadwell. We're sharp end of the inters group and my blade was making 98bhp at that point. He came past me on the open straights and lost it all back to me in the bends. Needing more than 100bhp is all well and good if you're a straight line merchant but for me it's all in the twisties. Don't get me wrong, I don't want any legislation against horsepower and given the choice I'll always go for more power but if I'm really honest I can't use it on the road anyway. I have some of the finest twisties less than an hour away from home in the Yorkshire Dales.

I have a deal with JHS inbristol. £800 for the bazzaz, dyno time with quick shifter and TC button. Asking for a Mate it all depends on what needs doing

@firebloke, 100 bhp is a lot of power. The fact the R1 overtook you on the straights but lost out around the bends can be due to a wide number of reasons eg not as good a rider as you, he was scared, suspension, set up, engine performance, braking system, tyres etc etc.

I am not advocating that the higher the horsepower or torque makes for a better bike, the BMW is a good example of that.

Personally I invest in suspension first before looking for torque/bhp gains. Once that is right you can use the power you have and then if you want more you can do the rest.

I am not a straight line 'merchant' it holds no interest for me, as I said, I like the acceleration and a bike with a lot of torque gives me that. Horses for courses :)

Ive NEVER seen an 08 onwards make less than 164 on the dyno, and with those mods id be wanting 170. and this is on a multitde of dynos, JT's, BSD, FW, daytuner etc etc.

My fathers 2008 with 13 miles on the clock, with standard chain & sprocket, standard system, filter, COMPLETELY standard made 167 on the Beowoulf dyno, and 178 with race can, link pipe, it also gained masses in the midrange and the tq curve & fa mixture was spot on, this was confrmed on the thundersport gb dyno 2 weeks later.

To put it into perspective, my 2007 made 177 at the wheel from a stocker motor also. and my previous 07 of which the engine had never been out made 162.

At a conservative guess id say 173 out of Remals, just depends on the bloke setting it up.

I win, I think. 160bhp at the dyno at JHS racing who do fast bikes mags dyno results. And better than I was expecting. With a lovely graph I'm happy with it. Can't expect a bike with 175bhp at the crank lose only 5 or 10 BHP till the wheels. James at JHS said if you want more power it's easy to sort out but the 159.91bhp is accurate for use and on par for a bike with the mods. Feels better as I took it for a little spin. And love the QS and noise the K&N race filter makes

160 at the wheel is more than enough, it probably has a much smoother feel to it now throughout the rev range. Mine goes in Thursday, full exhaust, PC map and filter etc, as it's an 06 I will be happy enough if I get 160, any more would be a bonus, hoping the torque moves up.

Strange though as I got 169.98 rwhp at Somerset Dyno with equivalent mods and they said that was about right but it was v hot in cabin So on a cold morning would make 172 and Si,s made over 170 as I remember ?
I would like to see Dyno print out as well :)
Still a great result and I bet it feels so much smoother and responsive than it was before :)
Please don't get me wrong it's a great result just interested by the different results :)

It seems that I'm not the only one with a blade "only making 160bhp". Sounds absolutely bang on if you ask me.

I'll be having mine done in a few weeks, and really wouldn't have known what to expect but I'd be happy with 160 at the rear wheel

Well done matey . Bet its hell of a feeling using the QS first time and nice to have a bit of reassurance that you won't slide right out if you take a corner a bit to hot . Don't post up pics or i will be very jealous !! ha ha
