........as I was stood on the back step having my morning cuppa and a Benson, how most motorcyclists hate winter so much. It keeps us from doing the thing we love most (well kinda :D) and how those months from October to March seem to drag so badly.

Quite a few days last spring / summer I was guilty of sitting on my arse in the house because the weather wasn't totally perfect and I was comfy on the sofa or something and we get perhaps 220 days from now if we're lucky until the weather turns crap again. This year I'm making the resolution to grab every opportunity to ride that presents itself so that, come November, as I put the Blade up on its paddock stands and tape the plaggy bag over the exhaust I can look back and know that I've had a fruitful year :)

can't agree I hope to get out a lot. But my last time out on the bike last year was the first week of Nov and I was back on the bike mid Feb. other than spending time with the family I will be trying to get out on the bike. Not always easy with a young family mind u

The biggest thorn in my side come the summer is all day racing coverage on Eurosport.

    Damn you Eurosport!

Thankfully, Jeanette keeps the grass from growing too far up the window, but the people downstairs still complain.

Aye. I've got a similar problem here, mate. My main riding buddy has spent the winter in Thailand teaching and has decided that she loves it so much that she's not coming back to the UK so has asked me to sell her bike for her (2009 Triumph Daytona with the Arrow can and all the carbon trick bits if you know anyone who's in the market :D)

One of my best mates rides a Super Blackbird but he doesn't go out very often and when he does he tends to ride pretty slow which can get frustrating.

One of my oldest mates and his wife are just in the process of organising their CBT which is great but they won't be up to speed for a while.

Fortunately I actually quite like riding by myself so it's not a biggy.

Aye that's another problem. Summer Sunday, belly full of dinner, boiling hot outside, sat in shorts and trying to decide between getting all leathered up and going for a ride or stretching out on the couch and watching other people ride whilst having a beer :D

Each year I say "I must ride more" but sometimes it just doesn't happen. Life sometimes gets in the way. Bike racing on telly is my biggest downfall. I have to watch BSB, WSB and MotoGP and I prefer to watch it live. Then after it has been on, off I go on the bike and do my VR or Stoner impression. The most dangerous bit is after I have watched road racing especially IOM, that really fires me up.

Last year I actually missed some live racing and spent the time riding myself and I have to say it was the better option, well the always show the races later in the week on Eurosport.

This year I am going to ride more in the wet. I love my bike too much and sometimes don't ride because I don't want to get it dirty. Sounds crazy but unfortunately true. This year will be different, at 56 I must make the most of the time left for 'spirited' riding and the bike is now really close to being exactly how i want it. Time for me to get some real use out of it. I usually manage at least 4000 miles pa, made up of 30 to 40 mile dashes, this year I am aiming for 6000 miles, she can take it :)

Easy to say when you're living in the namby-pamby south. Come and cling to the North East coast and see how often you feel like getting your bike out :D
