Yeah like everyone has said sorry to hear about your bike .... it will get sorted but at least your not badly damaged which is the main thing.

I would be more worried about your leathers for the fact you were doing 25mph and you got a hole in them not very good at all.

    Get well soon mate

Thanks guys, really appreciate it. Suppose it's the pride that has taken a knock more than anything. Doing the walk of shame 100 metres from your house wasn't good. Then telling your wife that you've binned the bike and her look of you aren't going out on that ever again.

I've just taken a stroll down to the crash site, to see if I can make any sense of it and one glaring thing that it could be was a shiny man hole cover!! I wonder if I powered up just when I hit the cover and the bike has slide under me from both slick elements of the tyre? Can't be a good combination.

It sounds like you could have found your issue, how bad is the bike mate?

You might have the correct answer there. A couple of weeks ago i was out and it was really cold and i stated on my post that i had to turn around due to freezing fingers in summer gloves(Fail ) As i did a quick u turn and just as i was pointing the correct way the back spun up and whilst that was about it ,it was also a quick reminder to keep mindful of the situation and this was with warmish tyres (30 miles into the ride ) and tyres 80% done with .So get it back on track (so to speak) and give the tyres a chance as you have more than likely bought the best rubber available .All the best Mike.

I think it has to be that as I was riding upright a low speed and there isn't anything else on the road and is so close to where I binned it.
I am not blamin the tyres as they have had such good reports and I doubt a tyre would just give out like that.

As for damage: just stripped her down now, needs the following:
    New mid fairing
New tail unit -split that in two
New right handle bar as that snapped off
    New Bar end
    New fairing mounting bracket
    New paddock bobbin
    New rear brake foot lever
New rear batter tray and loom connectors

Oh yeah, a new rib and a new hip!

Makes me really gutted to see her in bits again. Sucks!

Chicane, if it's any consolation, which I'm sure it's not, your tale caused me to be über careful this morning until I was absolutely positive I'd transferred some heat into my tyres. Even if temperature wasn't an issue in your tragedy, if it makes the rest of us cross the 't's' for a while something positive will come out of it.

    Small comfort for you though.

I had a glorious dabble across Dartmoor to Plymouth then back up the A38 this morning. Not sure if I did it the right way round but I think if I'd got caught in traffic over the moor after 20 minutes of dual carriage way, Ken grumpiness may have turned into road rage too quickly. At least this way I could chill at cruising speed all the way home.

I never get tired of pulling out to overtake at motorway speed and having the same slingshot acceleration I get at the lights.

Even if it is in strict accordance to local maximum speed restrictions.

Gutted to hear this, Chicane. Must be an absolute gutter to see the bike bashed up like that after all the prep. I guess there's nothing that I can really say by way of consolation but I hope that you get it all sorted without too much drama and get back underway. Sounds like you might well have found the root of the problem. I had a similar moment last year on my R6. I was on my way home from doing the Helmsley run (not sure if you know it) and the tyres will have been very hot and sticky. Gave it some beans pulling away from a set of lights and the back stepped out. Fortunately it quickly righted itself and all was well but I couldn't figure out why it had done it until the next time I passed that way and was scanning the road surface to see if I could see any indication as to why it had happened and then I spotted the shiny metal square road stud things about 3 inches across that mark out the level crossing. I must've gone over one of those as I was pulling away. Hope you're sorted out soon, mate.

And on a separate note, not wanting to rub salt in the wound, I had a fantastic run out today. The run from Middlesbrough up onto the North Yorks Moors to Helmsley. First time I've properly had a chance to give the Blade some beans since switching from a 600 and I'm very impressed. It doesn't feel quite as flickable as the R6 but it feels like the suspension's much better sorted and damped. And myyyy god it's got some grunt. The R6 took a bit more cog swapping to keep it in the sweet spot but this thing's just got it everywhere. I know this might mark me out as having small hampton syndrome but it did feel nice to know that I was riding a proper full-caf bike that not much else could touch. Made light work of most of the other machinery out there today and there were a lot of bikes out there. I thought that Helmsley was going to be rammed with bikes but I wasn't prepared for how many where there. There must've been over a hundred. My plan was to ride there, park up and have a fag and then do the run back but I didn't even bother trying to find somewhere to pull up :D I just turned around and came straight back. Had a bit of naughtiness on the dual carriageway with a Gixxer 1000 and kept the Honda end up :D Bike's now cooling off in the garage and I'm enjoying a beer in the sunshine. Thank you, Sun god.

Been sat watching the match with the French windows open listening to the lads screaming down the village bypass at exactly 59.6mph.

    Could it get any better?

    24 - 22 says yes.

Gutted mate. I've had a look to see if I have any spare bits, but I haven't. I'll look for the bar ends, as I'm sure I've a set somewhere....
I'll pm you if I find them.
Hope you get sorted soon though...

Managed to get a Good descent run today. Went out at 11 this morning and came back at just after 4.
Left my house and headed south to Biggar, then onto Peebles, and finally to Galashiels to take the road to Edinburgh. Got past all the good twisties and decided to head back the same way we came.

It was a little cold and the roads were still covered in sh*t in places so we took it gingerly. Still loved it though :)

Only downer was when my mate phoned around half an hour from leaving him that he had binned his blade. Basically some twat cut in front of him at a roundabout not even seeing him, forcing him to panic brake and down he went. The c*ck never even stopped as my mate was trapped under the bike with no one around.

Main thing is he's ok. The bike suffered a little damage, broken wing mirror and a small crack on the rear cowl, and he scuffed his brand new leathers. Thanks to the R&G crash bungs it saved the rest of the bike from more damage.

Yup poor bugger indeed. He's a member on here "HRC G". It was only his second ride on the blade since buying it. He's already sourced a new set of mirrors, just in the lookout for a rear tail section for a 07 hrc now.

Sure something will turn up, main thing is he is ok :) not nice damaging your baby but it can be fixed a lot quicker than you can so glad he is ok :)

Some people really should not be allowed to drive on the road, everytime I go out some tit trys to kill me it's not fun anymore :(

sorry to read the chicanes post but at least he,s (reasonably ok) been reading on web a biker in aberdeen lost his life just yards from his door. nobody else involved. when i read most of this thread i wonder if he hit the same type of problems highllighted on here.
as for the other lad hrcg, well i was out today (150 mls) roads full of utter fuds!!! on nice twisty roads you have old people in small cars running miles wide on bends (2 very close calls), and dont get me started on crap dragged out of fields by carrot munching twats!!!. apart form that i had a decent day out.

Went out twice today, first time for a long run and then a shorter one. Clocked up about 150 miles, I don't know how it didn't seem that far.

The Pirelli BSB's are unbelievable, although it was sunny it was still cool and the roads weren't great, but they stuck like glue. Managed to make myself dizzy on a couple of roundabouts trying to scrub the sides. Why do people pull out on you when you are on full lean ? maybe a front mounted missile launcher might deter them !

My bike really has some grunt now and fires out of corners more like a V Twin than a 4. I am impressed, also managed to nearly scare myself when winding it up, which did not happen prior to the mods.

I am happy, Oh yes, very happy, the bike did good :D

I can remember the first time I did a bit of roundabout surfing. After a few laps of it I took the exit and had to pull over and put the side stand down I was that dizzy :)
