It looks great but can you really see that when your travelling, in sunny daylight? or do you need the earpiece[/QUOTE] Yes, easily see it, the screen is very bright. I use a scala rider g4, so instructions come through wirelessly to my helmet. Jimbo, the tomtom on the iPhone doesn't use 3G, the iPhone has a built in gps satellite receiver which is 100% free to use, no charges at all.
Yes but all you'll ever see is the route you think is best on your computer screen at home!! In my experience, sat navs cause you nothing but trouble abroad! Fair play if your on an A to B... But if your on a ride out, who cares, enjoy the ride and be a bit more flexible IMO
Telferizer all the way, brilliant bit of kit, model specific, got one on my 2011 Blade. I use the Zumo 660Satnav, and tbh I wouldn't be without it, that and my Ultimate Ears. Paper maps a must as a back-up. JD
Can check maps on the road there and then!! Lol don't get me wrong, sat nav is genius and can get you out of trouble... But the bike for me is freedom, getting away from the rat run!! Everything the Tom Tom represents!! Some of the best roads I've ridden have been by mistake!!
Just completely hijacked this thread... Sorry guys. Crack on with the sat nav recommendations! Oops : )
Yep, each to their own mate, but with my sense of direction I'd spend too much time stopping and asking people the way!! Plus, looking at a paper map in the pouring rain is a real pain, I can testify to that lol. Part of the fun for me with the Garmin Zumo is planning the route using Mapsource long before I go on a trip, in fact it's kept me sane the last couple of weeks putting the finishing touches to my June trip. About 6 years ago, on a trip to the Black Forest, we got delayed and 10 pm, dark and very foggy up in the hills of Titissee, the Satnav took me to the door of the Hotel. A really welcome sight, we were wet, tired and if it hadn't been for the Satnav gord knows if we would ever have found it. JD
That's the difference with garmin's and tomtom's I've had both and now have a garmin Zumo 660. Garmin you can set your own route really easily and it won't chuck it back at you in a paddy. Tomtom you set your own route on google maps then import it with some dodgy software and the tomtom has you going in circles. Tomtom is good for a to b and that is it. If you want scenic routes it's garmin all the way.
Just found this for mounting sat navs on 04-07 blades, iPhone/GPS mount : Honda CBR 1000RR Motorcycle Forums: 1000RR.net
i had some moulded earplugs made about 8 years ago at the bike show.. they make a mould of your inner ear and then use that to mak a copy with a tiny speaker inside. they really are the dogs...if a jumbo jet passed it wouldn't affect the sound quality.
Just got and installed my telferizer yesterday. Very pleased with the product. Anyone know the easiest place to get the charging cable hooked up that is NOT directly to the battery?? I am not very familiar with this bike as yet...
