Speaking to a freind of mine today (Bike engine blueprinter) and guess what The Bmw s1000r has a problem with snapping bolts on the big ends haha
I'm sure I there was some issue with it right on the launch or just before and the production engines were recalled.
Are you some sort of oracle Bats? You know when I said I was torn between the blade and the "cough" your words BMTroubleyou You said then to leave it, wise words mate. Wise words
I think all bike manufactures have had their issues over the years. I know at least for one person Honda was a right Bastard. My poor old mum use to push me and the bike down the A52 to bump it many a time in a morning to get me off to college
Mate of mine has one, and has a few issues with his ie drop/tilt sensor, the bike would cut out on him whilst riding along, took back to BMW they checked it over said that it was all good and sent him off on his way Great !! so he went out the same day only for it to cut out on him again, but this time he could not get it going and had to get out a recovery truck to pick him up bike went back to BMW again, this time they said that the problem was caused from the sensor moving around so they CABLE TIDE it in place and said it will be fine now S1000R best bike around !!
Now you come to mention it yes there was. And that was a fixing failure I believe too. Yep, valve spring surge. Recalled to replace the camshafts, valve springs and the inlet valve retainer clips.
I was torn between both bikes as to which one to go for.I remember Kent motorcycles saying to me that if I bought a BMW I would have to go to the nearest dealer which is in Guildford. Then I would have to spend a day around the area waiting for it.The servicing costs are higher and the the things that persuaded me was the Blade has a very good reliability record and is easier to ride. The BMW is a new bike/engine so they could still have teething problems. How right he was!
Stick with what we know to be good fella's. But the Panigale does look very nice and they have a year to sort out issues before I trade up !
I did the same torn between these 2 bikes. went for the blade as it was and is I think the best all round package
They say if you hold it on the red line in 6th gear for three mins on the motorway the screen lights up and says "you win" in german
I'm sure there was a problem with the crankshafts either just before or just after the launch of the BMW. I'm buggered if I can find it on the net though.
