As long as the beam is pointing in the right direction you should have no problem.

Mine passed the last three MOT's with a HID dipped beam

Up to last year my local independent bike mot station would pass a 7 x 5 plate as long as its square and he can read it from 15 yards, but the powers that be put pressure on him and he now needs a full size?

No problem really, we just play the game!

Just been thinking what a load of bollocks the mot rules are haha!

I mean O my your number plate is to small and exhaust to noisy on your 11 grand machine with 3 grands worth of extra,s that make it snop and perform better even though its a minter with the best of every thing it still fails!! but its ok to put it back to standard get a pass and then change it back haha!!

MOT = Money spinner you should see some of the fails and passes on cars

The guy that MOT'd my 206 last year actually bitched to me that he couldn't let a 51 plate through without finding anything wrong with it. He did though. He also sarcastically asked me if I carried it everywhere when he was underneath it with his inspection lamp.

See, it pays to be anal about keeping them clean.

I seem to have a lot of luck with MOT. I haven't had a car fail for years and have even had the tester say, "this needs taking care of, strictly speaking this should make it fail but you look like an honest lad and I know you'll get it sorted so I'll give you your ticket now" :D

As for the bike, there's an MOT testing station about 2 minutes from my house and they do a lot of bikes. As long as it's not unsafe they don't give a crap. For 3 years I took my old bike in there with an aftermarket can with no baffles in and a small number plate and they never said a word. The Yoshi on my blade is louder but I'm just going to take it back to the dealership where I bought it as it's near work. They can hardly fail it when they sold me the bike :D

i know there is a massive change in MOT regs for cars this year ... Anything new for bikes??

Speaking with a mate in the trade and he seems to reckon they are using it as a way to get rid of some older cars from the road, because at the moment they cannot afford to run another scrappage scheme!

The one Jo and I use is great, we just take the original plate with us, and i take the exhaust baffle, show them to him and he's happy, he knows we'll just change them as soon as we get home anyway. Even passes mine and i have integrated rear light. He has a lot of prople take there bike for MOT's, wonder why :D

A new bike would be nice but that would mean an old car and annual MOT nightmares, with a nearly new bike and nearly new car MOT's are not too much of a problem. That said I would love a new bike and Grantham Honda have an open day today selling bikes at cost price. Apparently if they sell a certain number of machines they will get a year end bonus from Honda which I assume is there operating profit??

I will take a look but given that my numbers did not come up last night, lookig is all I will be doing?

Good point . Cars are a pain in the arse for MOT's

Finally gave up on my 10 year old 206 gti as it was costing more and more every bloody year

I had to spend alot of savings on my new car but it was worth it just to not have to worrie about what's going to break next

Well that's the huge number plate back on, doesn't look good but it's only for a week, I'm booked in for 10am next Saturday, with only 3k on the clock it's just a formality?
