Hmmmmm. Jeanette and I have been together for 35 years, married for 26. I'd be lying if I said we'd never fallen out, you can't spend that amount of time with someone and never disagree, but we work stuff out. We're a couple, always have been. So I think women are normal, generally, and so are men, generally, but normal is different for men and women and we need to be aware of that from both sides of the fence. I don't expect her to react like a bloke and I don't think she expects me to react like a woman. That way we don't wind each other up when the reaction comes.

That special week is fun, I like to block the toilet, hide the bins and clear off for a few days locking her in the flat... been divorced once... so far :)

I am asking myself the same questions and all my friends as well.

All women want to re-format their men. If you look around you can see that most of the men gave up to argue and gave up their former life because of the women.
I am over it and no woman tells me what and when I have to do things. I buy what I want and I am riding my bike when I want to ride it, end of story.

I'm sure that women look at us and just shake their heads from time to time. I know that I'm no picnic to be in a relationship with. No sooner do I get into one than I want to be single again. My last one ended because I was clattering around like a bear with a sore head and on the day we decided to end it she said "Sometimes I think you love the f*cking bike more than you do me!!!!". Apparently my silence and slightly pensive look did nothing to help the situation when the expected reply was "Don't be stupid. Of course I don't!!!"

I've been living the single life for nearly 3 years since then and loving it for the most part but I'm now on the verge of complicating my life once again.

Jo and I have the perfect relationship, She tells me what to do and I do it lol. Seriously, I can't remember the last time we argued. As I work offshore, I'm away half the year, so we miss each other, and when I get home we make up for lost time. Plus she loves her bike too, she cleans mine and looks after it too.

I hope things work out for you both Fez

Come on Jo, give us your take on the way's of the woman :D

The thing about women is the want to marry you for a reason. Walk down the aisle, stand at the alter and sing a hymn. 3 key words there...... aisle, alter, hymn.

I've been married 17 years this year... happy for most of them to be honest, we rarely argue and if we do it's over something daft. Saying that, Em did go through the phase of trying to calm me down and change me a bit... it wasn't happening and never will.

I don't think I've ever been aware of Jeanette attempting to 'improve' me. I'm flawless, of course, perhaps that's why, I just don't know.

Agree with all ken said, been with our lass 30 yrs now and wouldn't change her for the world, had our ups and downs but still love her to bits. You've just gotta find the right one. ( easier said than done I know) :)

Typically women marry men for what they can change about them & men marry women and don't want them to change from that point.

I've been married 6 years & it's been a pretty painless existence for the last couple of years

Well, you've got to be a bit pragmatic Carlo.

Imagine, for example if I was to fall asleep with my iPad on my lap and Jeanette was to glance over and read this thread. Now the way I see it, me and Tony, and astonishingly Si and Giv' are likely to be the only contributors that she and her sister and her mother wont be sticking pins into our effigy's the next time they're sitting around their cauldron.

Hope you get things sorted Fez.

I wouldnt say Dave does as i tell him, if i ask him to do something he usually does it for me so i dont have to tell him.

Not really sure why a woman whould want to try and change the man she's married to or living with, surely that would make him a different man to one she fell in love with in the first place? I do know what its like though to have the kids around me bickering all day and at the end of those days i'd give anything for an hour of peace and quiet, so off i go to soak in a long hot bubbly bath to have 'muuum, i need a poo' or muuuuumm she's done this/that' or 'babe, you gonna be long?' That said i wouldnt change any of it.

    xx
