Anyone fitted a HID kit to your blade. Hopefully have my new one in a few weeks. I have fitted HID to other bikes and never had an issue dazzling people with the brightness. If you have where ave you mounted the ballast ETC If not what about an uograded bulb?
Me too - but I'm going to find out what the fuss is about!! I thought they were too, until I saw daves... They are twice as bright.
I've got one on the dipped beam on my 07. So much more light it's untrue. I sold my last kit to Rob, who I think uses it on his daily commuter. He seems really happy with it. Mounted the ballast & igniter behind the left hand upper fairing where the rest of the electrics are.
I have one only for the normal beam and it sure makes a difference in daylight hours when other motorists can see me coming a mile away. Especially useful on motorways. Ballast is tucked away where the flapper vale diphrapm was.
Very easy to fit, haven't seen any moisture in mine, but I did have to modify my bulb holder to fit the HID bulb. I have a HIDS4U kit with a 5000K bulb for that OEM look. Cannot fault their products or their service.
H7's on my 10 and 929. Actual wiring's a piece of cake, finding somewhere to mount the ballasts and keep the cables tidy on the 10 is a different matter (have both the dipped and main beam) No issues with mositure on either bike, cut the cables and used the original rubber grommits on the 10. Do loads of night riding, just got in, couldn't be without them now.
I've got a set sitting here .... Gonna put them in on Friday! I'll do some photos! You know you can get HV extension leads so you can stick the ballast under the seat!
I modified the plastic cover to get the grommet to sit in properly which creates a weathertight seal. I did buy a new cover Honda Part number - 33112MFJD01 at £6.16 including VAT so that i can always go back to a standard bulb.
Could someone post some pics up of the install. I help a mate on his CB1000r and we used an extension to mount the ballast under his seat.
Just DON'T do it! What a bitch of a thing ... Pay somebody! Got the fairing stripped off, put the hid in and tried to find somewhere to put the ballast with no luck ... I am gonna look at getting extension leads and putting the ballasts under the seat
Erm advice off the top of my head ... Under the headlights is a small panel with push in clips .... Remove it first. There's a hidden clip under this panel that needs removed. This will probably need you to undo the single Allen screw at the forward of the air tubes Remove the screws from the belly pan, pull it down gently at the back and the top section will pop out, the work the pan backwards and the tabs that connect the fairing should all slide out Undo fairing screws and give the air tubes a good firm pull .... They will need some lube to get them back in come reassembly! When putting it back together ... Think! Check none of the well nuts are partially pushed through so when you try and put a bolt in you push it all the way through and have to remove the fairing and start again As I haven't remove the air tube flaps I.couldn't put the ballasts in there ... I wasn't prepared today and didn't know how to do that mod, but I think I'm gonna go down the extension route and out them under the rear seat .... It do it very tidily Ty wrapping all the was with the stick loom should take about 2-2.5m ... Hope there's not a big volt drop!
