Cheers chaps. I'm getting there. I can now fit back in my 1-piece leathers (which was the principal goal). 'Only' another 1.5 stone to go & I'm done!

well done vino, i am still losing now, but because i'm almost at my goal weight, its coming off really slowly now, that... and i couldnt resist the odd creme egg!!

I am getting a new set of leathers in the next couple of weeks, as mine now fall down on me lol

    Keep going Mel!

I must admit that I'm slightly envious that you can still indulge in the odd creme egg....but that (junk food, take aways, drinking at home most evenings etc. etc.) is what got me in this mess in the first place.

I can actually fit in my leathers now, but I've got another 1-1.5 stone to go before they're totally comfortable & I can fit my back & chest protector in and still be able to breathe!

Now looks like a good time to buy. There are some cracking deals out there at the moment.

Ditto. I'm in the same head space at the moment re: Spring.

Set a target date of 27th March to be finished with the diet & starting back in the gym next Tuesday so I can accelerate the weight loss and then get back in a regular regime to maintain it (I've also started looking for a UK only job, so I can guarantee to be able to hit the gym at least 2-3 times a week like I used to).

ok guys, help needed. I go to the gym mon - fri for anywhere between an hour and a half and two hours a day, do loads of aerobicy type workouts, spin classes and muscle toning classes. I've lost a few inches and a few pounds but now the weight wont come off at all. I'd really like to lose at least another stone and a half, maybe two stone at a real push which will put me back at 8 1/2 stone. a weight i havent been since having the two youngest ones 10 years ago. How do i get this off, i watch what i eat, eat properly, and am on the go all the time so why arent i losing any more weight? i know if i have my lady bumps made smaller that will take off half a stone, but it doesnt matter what i do i never lose it off them, so it will have to come off in other places. please advise as i know there are quite a few people on here who are into their fitness and diet.

    thank you

    xx

This is something I have been working at since giving up smoking. Can't afford not to fit in to the leathers.

According to the MOT machine at work I'm 83 kilos so that's what around 13 Stone, got down to 72kg when smoking ! Since November I have been spending 5 nights a week (mostly) on the exercise bike for 30 mins (now at 20KM) and doing some weights, press ups, pull ups etc (muscles burn calories) allowing for a couple of rest days. I haven't really lost weight but have noticed a change in body shape for the better.

The hardest and most important thing for me is the diet and creating a calorie deficit. Am trying to cut down carbs, eat (less) low fat and stock up on the protein, I'm even having porridge for breakfast. I think diet is 80% with 20% exercise.

My wife has also been doing similar and has plateaued with the weight loss. I think perseverance is key and eventually the weight loss will continue but I'm no expert.

The trick, I find, is maintaining a strict balance between the four main food groups of sugar, salt, lard and beer.

yup, makes sense, which is what i've been trying to do, even tortured myself on wednesday by using the new trx straps in the gym, which is a torture devise where you use your body weight to work out, i'm still sore today around my triceps, biceps, pecs and lats!! i've cut out bread, i dont have potatoes any more and i dont eat very much red meat at all, not sure what else to try. Maybe i need to bulk my muscles up more rather than just tone them?

Ken i'm surprised you're still breathinghun lol

Well Jo that's why the balance is important. The salt keeps my blood pressure sufficiently high to force the blood through my lard encrusted arteries, while the sugar gives me the necessary energy boost to get my lardy arse off the bar stool in order to get the beer in.

I didn't say it was an easy routine, but it's well worth the sacrifices.

I read that there is no such thing as muscle tone, it's simply bigger muscles surrounded by less fat. More muscle will burn more calories. Cutting out bread and potatoes is something I need to try. Failing that there is carb back loading.

Basically as I understand it carbs when eaten trigger the body to start growing both fat and muscle as well as changing the insulin production. If you can avoid eating any carbs before you do resistance exercise later in the day, say between 16:00-18:00 then any carbs you eat after the exercise only go to promote muscle growth and not fat. And apparently your allowed to go a bit mad on the carbs as well, within reason.

Oh and black coffee before exercise can help.

Ken I knew you would make me chuckle - jsut what the doctor ordered lol :D

Mr B, thanks for all your info. I dont drink coffee, only hot water with a soya latte thrown in once a day. I train in the mornings, and only have a bowl of porrige for brekkie as its slow release. sometimes i find i get the wobbles and need a sugar fix, but one of the trainers said not to eat a banana between classes as its harder to digest, if its harder to digest does that mean it will stay in your body and work longer?

So basically i maybe needing to work with bigger weights (like those bloody trx straps!! i was working with my 10 1/2 stone!!) to grow my muscles? mmmm, more weight work me thinks, sh1t, but that really burns!!

I'm 5,7'' weighing in at 14st! I should be around 11.5st but due to my muscle mass and my knob that's the lowest I can go :)
