at the moment i have pp2ct's front and rear but getting fed up with only 2k out of the rear was thinking about putting a pilot road 3 on the rear, has anyone done this or had just pilot road 3s on there blade, if so did they last ok? was the handling ok? cheers
Only 2k from a pp2ct. your either ragging the fooook out of the bike or the tyre pressure is way too low
Was about to say exactly the same thing.... i usually get about 7k out of rear and 10k out a front ... that's with a bit of touring in between.
I was getting 3.5k / 4k out of rear 2ct's .. Pilot power thou not pilot pure Got pure's on now that are on 3k with about 1k's worth left to go
are you serious! i've never got that out of any tyre on any bike,i must be doing something really wrong i thought the rr5 just liked rear tyres
the only reasons i can think of for only getting 2k out of a pp2ct is your surname is stoner or the bike has a turbo fitted something must be wrong somewhere mate
thats why i posted this fella, im 12.5 stone so not that heavy but had the bike set up for my weight i commute 200 miles a week, yes some of that is pretty spirited but not too much i spoke to a bloke in a tyre shop the other day, told him what bike, the tyre, and the milage i was getting and the twat told me that was'nt bad! getting pissed off with a new tyre every 2 months let alone the expense
if you have had the bike set up for you properly then it wont be down to suspension, not really that important but is the rear tyre 190/55, also is it running at 42psi i cant think of any other reason why you would be getting such poor millage dont think that bloke in the tyre shop is very helpful is he
As long as its a 190 it doesnt really matter if its a 50 or a 55. 42 psi wont be causing you poor millage as the lower the pressure the faster the tyre will wear. Do you do alot of burnouts lol
On my 600rr I ran 34F & 36R Cold with 2CT's on the road and dropped them to 30F & 32R Cold on trackdays. They use to move around a bit on the sides on the track, I moved up to sticker Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa Pro's now but on fast road rides, no issues with 2ct's whatsoever.
Maybe the guy just does loads of skids! Maybe the roads are abravise. I can't remember exactly and I don't monitor it, but I think I probably get between 2k-4k out of a PP2CT rear, just through normal road use.
What are the roads like ?if for instance you are doing motorway rides and most of this is of concrete construction or poor tarmac and you are giving it some gip then this is worth considering.
thanks for the replys fella's i never gave the condition of the roads a second thought(they are really poor) as i just do the same journey monday to friday, i dont do burnouts or skids as the low milage gets on my nerves as it is but i do give it a little bit has anyone used the pilot road tyres? if so how did they affect the handling cheers fella's
