The best thing about the iPad is Apple products hold they're value very well second hand so if you upgrade in a years time then you will get 2 thirds of you'd money back .

I sold my year old IPad for 120 less than what I paid so I only had to add 80 quid to that fit the IPad 2

Just for Internet use thou I can understand it being alot of money .
    Internet is only a small
Part of the IPad thou so depends what purpose your looking to fill

Steve. Can you access Android Market with it or is it Archos only?

Well the hot rumor at the moment is that there is an IPad event for February

Now if it's to announce the IPad 3 then it probably won't be available to buy for a good few months but IPad 2 sales will slow right down and as soon as the IPad 3 prices are released then we will have Ipad 2 starting at 299.00

although it doesn't appear obvious at first, you can access the android market.
For some reason Archos try to force you into using their AppsLib application.
All you do is use AppsLib to download Arctools.
Arctools contains Android market. It puts it straight onto your home screen - job done.

Good luck with that Haggler. I'm so anal about dirty glass I carry a bottle of Isopropynol around with me in the car for windscreens, glasses, phone screens etc. So putting my finger on the iPad is like fingernails on a blackboard to me. It's made worse by the special anti oil coating Apple putting on it meaning you daren't use any chemicals on it to clean it for fear of it losing its 'slide'.

I found and old velvet vinyl 'LP' anti static pad in the loft and use that to keep my dabs to a minimum, but it's still an uphill struggle. Even the smart cover leaves marks on the screen.

    too much information Ken!!!!

On another not regarding the Archos - it is deceased, it is no more, it is a dead Archos. If it wasn't nailed to the pearch it would be pushing up the daisies!
My son Adam decided he liked it, so i lent it to him like the good Dad i am.
He had one of his tics, ended up jumping up and sitting on it.......I then had two tablets (well, two halves).
Been back on the laptop for some time now :(
Not his fault, he cant help it.

That's a shame. I was looking forward to a long term review of that one.

Back to dirty glass. What do you in the 'business' use to get glass squeaky clean Steve?

    Occupational hazard I suppose.

Every bit of glass I look through I think of as a 200mm f2.8 L lens.

If it looks dirty, I end up sitting in the corner, rocking backwards and forwards with my head in my hands.

On uncoated glass, acetone is the best cleaner.
If it has any coatings we tend to use hot soapy water only.
As we only manufacture individual and unmounted glass elements (lenses, prisms etc) it is less of a problem to us because we can use a degreaser etc.
The problem arises when you have an assembly with class components and you are limited in what you can do.

    Mmmmmmmmm........prisms........

I've been doing some work for Epson recently with a new metallic inkjet medium. It's incredibly fragile stuff and has to be laminated immediately the ink cures to protect it and despite everyone screaming at me for it with an ultra gloss laminate, I've been finding that if I put a 'sand' textured laminate on it, all of the stipples on the surface acts like a fresnel lens and the effect is stunning. It makes the whole thing appear backlit and almost 3D.

I can relate to that Ken. I refuse to put a filter on my lenses, but I get paranoid about getting them dirty.
