I know what you mean mate, it's never floated my boat tbh. Awsome top end but lacks mid, hindered by rider aids IMO. I've not rode the 2012 but they say it's a lot better mid etc. that said all super bikes are total overkill on the road and for the most of us more than capable bikes. I like it just don't love it, would much much rather have an 1199 :D lol

I would consider a 1199 if it wasn't so small like the rsv4. I honestly think that I'd look like a gorilla on a monkey bike. I'd love 1 but it's 1 of the things that puts me off it. I think I'll take a test ride on 1 when I get a chance though :)

Lol. It's not so much how roomy it is on the bike, but more how I'd look on it. 1 thing I hate is looking too big for a bike.

You see I'm considering one too,BUT....(that's a big but) I don't think I could push for the S, which means it puts the non S right in the firing line of the APRC Factory which obviously comes with ohlins etc and although I've not ridden one yet it's meant to be an amazing bike.

I'm a tall bloke so any new bike will look small under me but it's how they ride and whether you can live with the comfort.

I'm not after super plush or non achy wrists, it's all part of it IMO . The ape is tall so suits my leg length, it actually only looks so small due to the stumpy back end but I reckon the 1199 has the same type of rear so it's all the same

Think I need to get out and try both, ideally back to back but the dealers are so spread out I'm not sure how I'd do it same day etc to get best feeling.

Either way, an aprilia running the Austin Racing GP exhaust or 1199 on the termi, both on full chat will sound WONDERFUL :)

Completely agree you pick up the factory RSV4 for 13.999 with akra exhaust brand new all be it last years colours, for me I think that's where my money would have to go

Racers are all saying the RSV turns a little sharper but I guess they mean out the box as after all you can tweak the geom to get what you want from both, I think it's unfair to compare them however as we all know a twin has nothing the same as the v4 in regards to power, the RSV make little power in the mid over a blade for example where that Ducati will be huge IMO the Ducati does have more style than the RSV and the backup should be better from dealers even if parts service can be slow, the RSVs dealer service has been poor from the owners that I know that have had problems from day one that's the one thing that keeps me away from the RSV however I fully agree its one stunning bike... Man o man IF I had the money it would be a hard call like you say Damo the only way would be to have time on both and see what you fall in love with... Tell you one thing that RSV will full akrapovic sounds nice but OMG even stock the 1199 is a beast of a sound!

Can you do that Arthur ?, I take it the loom kit is there for the ohlins if needed and the software for controlling it using the screen ? Was thinking you may not be able to retro fit it which would be a real bummer ?

No one is interested in the DES mate and all oem Ohlins is built to a budget no one wants the bulk and agro of the electronic suss and imo its more of a gimmik than real world useful after all who will pick modes for this and that each time you go for a ride, once you have a good setting its job done. The best option imo is TTX rear and R&T forks, better suss built to do the job to a much higher quality and just as easy to adjust for diff needs, ok so there is no electronic preload etc but if you ask me its just loads more agro when it comes to service and setup. However thats jmo... :)

i have to say it would be Ducati over the RSV all day for me, i think i would probably want the 1198s over the RSV if i am honest. Having ridden the 1098 and an 848 and seen how well Arthur goes on his it really is all about the midrange out on the roads. Yes i pushed past him but we were starting to see some silly numbers on the clocks when i did and i am sure had he have been really nailing it I wouldn't have got past on the road.

Also apologies about the finance on the 1199 Benn its more affordable than what i quoted its actually only £149 a month for 4 years and not 6 lol

That is my opinion on the RSV although i have to admit i have never ridden one
