wouldnt touch one with a barge pole. hello gearbox goodbye gearbox and bye bye any other 1000cc bike because youve got nil power.

 

I take it that's a very common problem then Craig, I also read the BMW S1000rr also suffers with some gearbox issues as well

 

I know 2 rsv4 owners and both have had gearbox problems. the blade has problems but not as big as some of the other 1000's. better the devil you know and all that

 

It's been recognised the gear boxes were crap so they have all been changed!

 

any idea what year the upgraded gearboxes were fitted to ?

 

it doesnt matter when they were upgraded, they still break, i know of a lad with a 400 mile rsv4 aprc thats just been in for a replacement engine after the gearbox grenaded its self and took out the block. and i could name 6 maybe 7 other lads with the same issue, all years covered.

 

Was this day to day riding on the roads Craig or track? Not that it should really matter

 

2 track bikes, 1 race bike (albeit in stock trim) and the rest all road bikes.

 

+1 from the 2 bikes i know of no.1 was a first generation model but the 2nd was a 2011 aprc. both of which had not seen a track. would love 1 but dont think i could own 1 without a warranty

 

i love mine , lovely to ride , it turns in with so much feed back and feel and so stable on the brakes . hooks up well also out of the corners overall its a very good bike
