Hi, Anyone know the costs of getting a Datatool System 3 Alarm fitted? My insurance would be £250 cheaper if i had one.. Thanks
And thats all because you live in london. not sure on fitting costs but you will save money in the long run if you plan on keeping the bike for a few years
We charge £299 for supply and fit but it's been a while since doing one. We spend more time removing alarms these days.
An alarm doesn't make my insurance cheap at all! Pain in the arse so I don't bother! Think it's a couple of he's labour and then the cost of the alarm?
No need for alarm here either, we had a lampshade alarm dog unfortunately I forgot to plug him in. On Guard by (MrB), on Flickr
if you have lost the lead man iv got a spare one to fit that model shell have to change the plug tho its a 2 pin
Aren't Datatool Italian. Who wants Italian electrics on a Jap bike. I had 4 fitted on my last bike, SV1000, as they kept blowing and immobilising the bike. Told the insurance company this and now no requirement for a alarm on the blade and no increase in premium
is the system 3 the latest, sure mine on the 10 is a system 4, maybe wrong? Had no issues with this one, although the system 2 on the 929 packed up one day so i ripped it off.
I'm not sure they do the 3 anymore. I got the manual for mine from their archive. No mention of it in current products.
Mines a 4; it came pre-fitted to the bike. So far its been okay; just a bit of extra pigging about when filling up etc. At the first sign of trouble however, it will go in the bin.
Mine's got the 3. It behaves itself. It goes off more often when I get the button sequence wrong, and bits of it are more likely to set off the trembler than others. I nearly embarrassed myself outside Heine Gericke on Saturday by tapping the back tyre with my foot. That really made it angry, and whoever put in the anti tamper microswitch put it in the wrong place, but you can't blame the alarm for that. The only thing I would change would be the 30 seconds auto arm. Now that is a pain in the arse. But the first time it goes off for no reason at 3 am will be its last.
System 3 on mine from new when I bought it! Never a problem at all! I like the Auto arm feature, as I never arm it! unless filling up, Valet mode for working on etc. It is a safe as hell at home, and doesnt need one because my garage is alarmed to the house, but when I'm away from home....well!! Better to be safe than sorry! If you buy any of these second hand, try to see them working first, and ALWAYS get the overide pin from owner. These are set at 0000 from factory and should always be changed to your own.
Ground the yellow customisation wire, it will still arm after 30 secs but only the hotwire & seat switch circuits. If you want full movement sensor protection you just press the circle before it self arms. This stops it going off when you're filling the tank or just moving it round the garage etc.
Another option is biketrac from road angel, 300 ish plus 99 per year, if someone moves or takes your bike you stand a slim chance of getting it back.
