Hi, I am new to this forum I currently have a CBR600RR and am going to change to a blade. I would like to hear from other blade owners which model I should go for RR7 or RR8..? I have about £6500 to spend so am looking at models from 2006 to 2009 I have seen a nice HRC 2007 blade with very low miles which is tempting me but I am liking the new design of the 08+ Am I correct in saying that neither the RR7 or RR8 has a slipper clutch or gear indicator? I dont know much about common faults/recalls etc so it would be good to hear your opinions Cheers
rr8 does have a slipper clutch and the rr7 doesnt, i would go for the RR8 if you have the money but i have 1 so i am a bit biased, just make sure you pick a good one, no gear indicator but you can buy them to fit on the 08+ models do have quite a few recalls on them but i think all of them are still covered and will be sorted free if not already done, oil burning is the main issue with the 08+ models some burn lots and some burn next to nothing so pick wisely
I have owned 55 plate blade and now the 2011 repsol. In my eyes the 2011 is much sharper and feels more powerful! The 55 plate was nice but felt dull and not that exciting. Slipper clutch is nice on the 2011. Shame Honda have only now added a gear indicator to the 2012 blade I would deffo go for the newer bike every time and it is very rare to manufactures to go backwards rather than forwards in development. Thanks Gary
Sit on both and try for test rides back-to-back. I was in a similar position when I was buying a 'Blade. What made my mind up was that the 06 had a better reach to the bars, pegs and seat height. If you can use all of the 1000cc's on the road then maybe a change of career is needed LOL
RR7 is legen-------wait for it.......................................................dary! could never accept the new nose of the RR8. the 2012 model is a a step in the right direction though.
I've got to say on the whole I prefer the styling of the older bike, but saying that some of the modded later models on here look sweet.
I went from a 2007 600 rr and the blade was not much bigger ( 2011 model ) ..My mates 1000RR-7 is a bigger lump . rr8+ i reckon is the best choice
Thanks for all the replies! Im going to look at the hrc rr7 tomorrow is there anything in particular I should be on the lookout for?
The RR7 gets my vote at least that wont burn any oil, two of my mates have got 08-09's oil consumption is beyond belief.
My 2011 doesnt use any oil! Has this been a big issue with 08+ bikes or just how they have been run in causing the issue?
if you buy an RR8 and it's an oil burner you will regret it and people are selling their oil burners for that very same reason. It's a chance you take, the question is can you afford it ?
Yes it is a big issue but some do burn oil and some dont. i have a rr8 that hardly burns any but some do burn loads of oil. somebody posted a link a while back showing exactly why they do it but cant find it now. its all to do with how the rings fit in the pistons i think
Hondas PR Dept is crap. The number of compliants regarding the 04-05 stator burning out should have been a call back instead a double extended warranty, burnt three stators and now on the fourth. The oil saga in which Big H stated 800 miles per litre is acceptable shocked previous blade owners, just finished a full sercice on an 09 where the owner was topping up every 500miles. The Honda crankshaft rumble where it was alleged some flexing of the primary drive was addressed more to the American buyer rather than European. Pull your socks up Mr H dont underestimate people power
