I've just been reading another thread on this subject and I never knew the crash bungs were bolted into the engine through the frame, as they were already fitted to the bike when I bought it.
When I come to fit my new fairings, which could possibly be this weekend I was planning on not re- useing the crash bungs.
So now i'm going to be missing 2 frame to engine mount bolts, can the R & G ones be used without the crash bungs fitted (I'm guessing these are likely to be too long tho)

On the off chance does anyone have any in the back of their garage that I could purchase.

I was still hoping to fit some kind of crash bung, but hoping to fit some that don't require drilling of my plastic's, i've since read that these generally are a lot less effective but can anyone recommend me the best of the bunch to look at or an alternative please.

Oh for fitment my bikes an RR6.

In a word no you just need to standard bolts the R&G ones are longer to accommodate the bung!

Yeah you will need proper engine bolts as the R&G will be too long

Why are u not re fitting the bungs?

There will be a thread from you in a few weeks titled "dropped it, why didn't I re fit those crab bungs!"

I'm planning on fitting crash bungs of some description, but hopefully one's that don't require drilling holes in my new plastic's

I'm on a quest to find some, but i've heard most that don't bolt through like the R & G aren't a get deal of use.

Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade 2006-2007 Crash Protectors | Frame Sliders

I had these on 07 blade.. good kit, and reading it makes alot of sense compared to engine frame mount of R&Gs... imagine the bolt getting bent off head coming off what a job that would be getting sorted.... compared to these have a very strong bracket and i belive they are made so go around areas aswell to make stronger ie not a flat/straight bracket for bung and thats it, saves removing the damn bungs everytime you take off fairing aswell.... id buy some for my blade but fairings got holes in already :(

Andrew, I'm sure Nutty Tart has changed from R & G to Giles spring mount crash bungs so they might be worth a look.
