The wife and I spent the day in London Sunday 240 mile round trip to see damion hurst (is that how you spell his name) what a load of xxx his so called art is, a few dead animals, ash trays and butterflies he's taking the pxxx out of the world? Anyway on the way home we stopped off at the aces cafe for coffee, not sure what I was expecting but it's a good thing I was not expecting too much? Tea was ok, bought a tee shirt to say I've been but can't see why I would want to go back? Pic of the wife outside is as good as it gets.
Carl, It's never been about the state of the place as such, it's the atmosphere it can generate on meet days, plus they have bands etc of an evening. Can be quite a sight when everybody rides off onto the 406. A visit on non-meet days will just not do it justice, outside of a bacon sandwich and a cup of tea that is.
If you spell his name right you have to pay the wanker royalties anyway Carl. Consider yourself fortunate you only had to look at his work not meet the jerk. Let's say he lives up to his image well.
Its 115 miles from me so not that far, if there's a meet I'm interested in I might just ride down, perhaps a Blade gathering?
theres some good vids on you tube specially when they get it wrong.not sure it sends the right message though, some proper knobs! Ace Cafe bike crash - YouTube
Ah, the good ol' Streetfighter Sundays! Haven't been for a couple of years so not sure if they're still going but they used to get packed, and a bit less haphazard than that video! Was quite funny seeing cars and buses queuing up to get past the bikes doing the tricks. One time there was a full-spec Paramedic ambulance coming through and the driver smoked the front wheels proper good while the medic passenger had a huge smile on her face while everyone cheered!
its pretty lame tbh BUT if you simply treat it as a place to meet everyone, have a cuppa and go on a ride out - i cant fault it...
