Hi, Are these illegal? or less visible to the driver behind then having indicators on the rear? Does anyone know? Thanks
They should pass an MOT but Eurolaw says 220mm apart so they are not legal for use on UK roads and ALL the ones I have followed are a total waist of time IMO. Mot laws are one thing and legality is another.. strange but true.. :S
I remember getting pulled last year on my bike, has R&G Tail tidy on.. Fine for the small number platee + Fine for the white light that comes with the tail tidy (apparently it was pointing little up then down) - would they give me another fine for the integrated tail lights?
Well the funny thing about that is again there is no requirement for a number plate illumination with the mot but again required for euro production laws.. basically if your bike deviates from what it was as stock they could pick up on all those points, for example no mirrors, small indicators, exhaust and so on, this is the scary part of the brussels bull if they wanted to enforce modifications technically speaking they already can, at the end of the day it's the nice policeman who has the final say on the road side.. be very very nice is my advice....lol
IMO nice led signals are the way to go, at least people can see them. A few of my mates have them and when behind you just can not see them personally I'm not too bothered what goes on behind me so of thing but it's nice to know where your mats are going....lol
I have integrated tail light and before i added an L.E.D i got pulled over for wheeling and had a telling off . No comment on the lights or the lack of L.E.D , My 600 passed its MOT with integrated tail lights and no light for the plate Depends on the copper and how much lip you give him i guess lol
I got 3 points a few years ago for contravening double white lines, I did overtake a car but didn't cross the lines as the road was fairly wide but seeing as I was speeding and it took the copper 15 miles and another pursuit car to catch me I graciously nodded, took the telling off and the points. At the time I had integrated tail/indicator lights, loud exhaust, dark visor, no number plate light etc etc etc and he didn't even mention them. My bike also used to pass it's MOT with an advisory for the exhaust. Moral of the story is 'it depends on the copper and how pleasant you are to them'. If your and ass to the copper don't be surprised if he/she throws the book at you.
My last four bikes have passed MOT's with integrated lights. Me and Ray another member on here have just ordered these me for my 2010 and him for his 06. My mate has one on his and it's highly visible during the day and night! Check out this video. 2008-2011 Honda CBR 1000RR Sequential LED Tail Lights - YouTube
I like the sequential indicators and the 3 flash braking. If drivers don't see that then they're half blind!
I just fitted the motodynamic rear light at the weekend really good piece of kit, plus no import fee. Just need to see how I get in with the local boys in blue.
It took roughly about a week mate, 1 hour to fit but being very cautious with the bike. All plug and play very straight forward to fit really, no need for extra resistors if running standard front indicators.
