The wife wants a Rolex GMT with the Red & Blue bezel (Pepsi bezel) We saw one in Texas when we were on honeymoon & the guy in the shop told us Rolex had recently 'retired' the watch. He told us he could do us a really good deal on it & Texas is one of the only States in America where you can claim some of the tax back too. Unfortunately, it was just the wrong time of life & we just didn't have any disposable cash at the time. Never seen one since. The wife has regretted it from that day on & always looks in watch shops whenever she sees the Rolex emblem.
Strangely watches aren't gadgets that turn me on too much but I am very fond of the good old bog standard Stainless Steel Oyster.
Nice watches Ray. I had been after a submariner with date for years but you can’t get them very easily as there is a waiting list of about a year I was told. You can get the Submariner dateless without to much trouble. But the date one’s are like rocking horse shit, and can be sold for far more than the RRP. I think the GMT also has a waiting list. Then one day I was hanging about in Frankfurt airport one morning kicking my heels just as a new watch store opened its doors for the first time. Wandered in and shit me there was one in the cabinet. I spoke to the women and asked how come they had one and was told that as it’s a new store they had been allocated one of most types. I phoned Ling and started to tell her, she interrupted me and said just buy it. So I did. That was about 4 years ago I love it every time I wear it. But tend to alternate between my other watches so I don’t get bored. Like you I would still be kicking myself if I had not brought it when I did.
That is one lovely looking watch mate. On the quiet I keep looking for the Pepsi bevel GMT to see if I can get the wife one. The only problem is, like you said when you find them they are silly money. In a perfect world I'd like to get one from here birth year, but they were made in limited numbers that year which pushes the price up further, funny that!
It is the daddy, isn't it. Understated, no bling, chunky enough that you can wear it while working and it even looks good once it's started to ding up a bit. Yep, if I was as rich as David, it's the one I'd buy. That is, of course, if he's not already bought me H4 for my 52nd.
