I know that, traditionally we're not supposed to read much into it but there was a single swallow on the telephone wire outside the house. So it is a start, I suppose. I got around the corner to see a water main that had burst so violently that it had ruptured the pavement. So I still don't know about the summer but I'm certain it's going to be a long dry weekend.
Can you enlighten me on the swallow on the fone wire? are these medievel superstitions regarding the start of summer?
"One swallow does not a summer make." I believe it goes T. Or in Berts case. "One swallow does not a breakfast make."
The saying relates to the fact that, being a migratory bird that summers in the more temperate climates of northern hemisphere, the presence of the swallow could signify the commencement of summer in or about these latitudes. The saying presents a warning that the arrival of a single swallow as opposed to the entire flock does not constitute a guarantee of clement weather. In art as in life, the metaphor may be transposed to the human condition with regard to proceeding from a false assumption based on the flimsiest of circumstantial evidence.

I guessing it's going to be a dry weekend as I've just thrashed my bike for over 100miles on a Friday afternoon. Still not happy with the Metzler M3's that we're on the bike when I bought it so they will be getting scrapped as soon as my car is sold and either Michelin 2CT's or pilot pure's going on!
