Is it a bastard or piece o pee? Just had a quick shufty and looks simple enough. Remove all the hesd shit, tank cover etc slacken a few bolts and just lift the top yoke clear???
I'll go with that mate. Let's see a Blaggers rebuild thread. I'm sure loads of advice, both good and not so will be forth coming. There are certainly a lot of people on here routing for ya. I know I am Go Blaggers Go!!!!
Don't forget the plasters Blags. The most important part of any Ken maintenance job, so for you doubly important. And have you got a fire extinguisher?
Funny ya should mention that ken, believe it or not I cut my finger just 'giving it a coat of looking at'. Gaz, there will be a rebuild thread, probably entitled 'polishing a turd'.
Just fitted some Woodcraft ones , 2" rise just dropped the fork's through the yolks , took about an hour !!!!!
Bike's in my shed with a snapped clip on. Me backs still bolloxed so dont want to manhandle the bike with a missing bar and I got no way of supporting the bike to drop the forks through, until I get it up to my mates garage, but cant do that til I fit the clip on! Lol. My life's always a 'bit complex'. Lol.
Fit a mole grip to the yoke and zip tie the broken clip on to it. The lever on the mole grip will double as a great pretend clutch/front brake. Top tip.
I find it better to loosen the 6 mm bolts on the bottom and top yokes, one forke leg at a time, and lower the fork leg, then remove the old bar and fit the new clip on. This ensures the top yoke is still 100% in line with the bottom yoke when you put the legs back in the top yoke. I don't know how the road kit may affect accessability to the tokes, but i always do this when necessary rather than removing the yoke. Also, if you have a GPR or similar yoke mounted damper, it saves messing with that too. Before you do anything, make sure you know how much fork leg sticks through the yoke for when you put them back. You need either a yoke stand or what i do is hang the bike at the front end by the frame from a beam i have in the garage. Bongo
Thats probably what i'd normally do. But that means front wheel off, and suspending the bike. Read post #8 and you will see my dilemma. lol.
Sorry had some good info for you Blag's but then re read the title.... for some reason I saw strap in there .... my mistake
