I love my watches as well. Currently have Tissot Touch Men's Tissot T-touch Expert Alarm Chronograph Watch (T0134201720700) - £555.00 - WATCH SHOP.com Also had the Tissot Moto Gp watch but sold that as the ex wife bought it for me lol
Apart from an investment oportunity, i cant really see the point of expensive watches. I'd just wreck them in the same amount of time as a cheap watch. I've only bought one expensive looking watch, a Patek Philippe from Thailand for £12, black leather strap, white face, roman numerals, thin, not too big, gold (ok, imitation gold), lovely, my favorate style, Lasted for 4 years, always spot on time wise, i loved it. But i still scratched the hell out of it and generally abused it. If i had i proper expensive watch i'd be scared to wear it.
I only wear the Tissot for going out! never for work! I have about another four watches that i wear for work or i have a Rolex for smart outings.
Some hobbies/ fetishes are only for some. My Omega planet ocean in 6 years old. The wife bought it for me ad a birthday pressy. Cost me a lot but worth 1k more to buy today than it did 6 years ago. Also never had it serviced, no need for battery's, I'll get it serviced when it needs it I don't buy and sell watches just enjoy a good watch.
this thread makes me want to cry! too many amazing watches i could never afford.. last saturday i was looking in the window of ernest jones. a stunning tag monaco vintage limited edition in the window, a sales assistant came out and asked if i wanted to try it on, only if you dont mind wiping drool of it i said, stunning watch and trying it on would be a big mistake at £5500. they,ve jumped up in price as the last tag i bought was only $10 on canal st nyc.
I got the email from tag abou this one in feb. asked in a few watch shops in the US but they won't have it till next year. And u know what decks me off the most! The wife's ok with me spending £1400 on this but if I say £400-500 on the blade she's not happy
Here we go ! In stock here in UK ! TAG Heuer Formula 1 CAU1117.FT6024 My wife thought I am going to buy a chopper bike after I sold my hayabusa. Unfortunately I couldn't find a dealer, so I bought a new Fireblade instead. I bought a Kindl for her, keeps her busy after work !
Must admit to being a bit of a watch man myself, i currently own a rolex stainless sub date and a bi-metal datejust, used to where the sub 24-7 but decided it was looking a bit tatty so took it to ernest jones for a service and it set me back........£575.00!!!!! (did need new clasp and refurbed bezel) OUCH!! Came back like brand new, could not believe it was my old watch! now where my old g-shock for work!!
I had the same experience with my Ebel watch years ago. I gave my father my Ebel just to try it out and he just had it for a month or so. When I got it back, I wasn’t pleased about the condition. I paid 375 GBP after all for a complete service.
I wear my Rolex Oyster Datejust every day, that is what insurance is for. Wife has a matching one. I also have a 20yr old Tag. All of em are worth a fair bit more than I paid for them
