Righto... as some of you know, i recently binned my beloved (and fastest) 2010 colour HRC, there is more damage than initially thought cosmetically so i was faced with an insurance claim (takes ages, f*cks up premiums etc etc etc) or repair it myself.... having wanted a track bike for ages (possible view of doing some club stuff) i have decided to bite the bullet and convert it to a track bike... and the money that i would have spent getting it back on the road, i will purchase a road bike for use in the mean time. this way i get a bad ass track bike which I can take some time getting ready and a decent road bike for the same outlay (how i've sold it to lisa) so all in all Im pretty pleased. Agreed price on the road bike and if all is well on inspection tonight i'll be bringing it home.... downside - it's not a blade!!! but im pleased with it.... but not sure i'll be allowed on the Le T day now? ; ) heres some pics Ill let you know how it goes tonight .
My brov has an 07 just like that, it's a great bike he loves it. I find the riding position to aggressive for my liking and the yoshes with no baffles give you a headache, that said it is qwick!
Looks great Jimbo. Hope its all up together when you get there! Shame its not a blade but hey its 2 wheels so all good!
It's a 2004 mate, but few goodies on it plus one owner etc and full history etc Will do me for a while until I can afford another newer bike as well as the blade and then I'll just park it up and add to the collection!!
Very pleased for you jimbo. Theres not many dudes on here that would not like that sucker in the garage. There was a Swan Yammy for sale at Wigan Yamaha a few weeks ago looked really mint as it had the Acki cans in sort of a dull metal finish really norrowed that phat back end down a treat.
Cheers giv! I do love the look of it....Agreed the akra's are lovely, but will have to wait a while as all spare cash will now go into the track bike build...
That's what I ve done jimbo with my second blade or "tatty bitch" as I named her and saved from becoming lost in oxidised crud !
Good call Jimbo, you can't go wrong with the 04 R1 its a fantastic bike and you have a serious weapon for the track now.... A little bit jelous ????? YES!
I was lucky and bought em second hand sprayed up......Pro fibre UK (Rich)07772 112027 a real sound fella for all the fairings, the sub frame requires a small mod though......quiet daunting when you cut the rear coupling off the end !......, Superbike style tank covers fit over existing fuel tank in fact no probs fitting all to stock bike....but small mods to suit side stand and standard exhaust (link pipe) cut outs......but they do two types one for race and one for standard.....its hard to believe how much weight you lose by just stripping unwanted bits !
Cheers Jamie - yeah I'm more than happy to hustle it on the roads, and as said, I now have something current for the track as apposed to an older bike I would have had to buy if wasn't using the blade. Blaggs - you'll be back befor you know it mate!
Bike looks nice mate, sorry I couldn't do tonite. Good luck, fingers crossed it's not a waisted journey
Cheers dave! Sure it won't be, he's been pretty straight up and a well known fella so im not expecting any surprises!!
