IMO. For what its worth, the Blue badge scheme is one of the most over abused concession ever created.
Where did you get that CCTV footage of my house Mike? Gary, I'm friends with someone who used to allocate them, and it sounds like if you phone them and complain enough they'll issue one. A generalisation, I know, but not by a massive amount, I'll bet.
Dont get me wrong Ken. For people who are in genuine need, they are a godsend. But it would seem a person having tge slightest health statement, wether it be physical or mental they are rewarded a blue badge. I just read this out to my charge hand and he said apparently there was a case recently where a young woman was returning to her car parked Birley St. She was getting into it when the traffic officer pulled up. Checked car and badge. Long story short she said her mother"who's badge it belonged was still shopping and would be at least an hour, Traffic officer said that's ok I'll wait. After 30 minute. Woman said her mother wasn't even with her. Have a sixty pound fine.
Do they make a specific Blue Badge to fit sports bikes as they need to be able to withstand high speeds. There are no specific parking bays at supermarkets for old age motorcyclists.............just no equality.nor is there a 'mounting and dismounting step' to help you get on and off your bike. Plus the trolleys do not have helmet racks that are padded. OK , I need a ride
Now my other half manages a respite centre for children with special needs including wheelchairs etc......the main minibus even has a lift fitted but can she get a "Blue Badge"..........like hell she can.....the system is so out of touch......have to admit I really get annoyed with abuse of disabled parking, no one gives the proverbial
And what is it with invalid scooters. I know Exeter has a high percentage of older citizens, but from what I see the main criteria for getting one is being a lazy, fat bastard. They're everywhere. You should see them slip streaming each other down the high street.
You think I'm joking, but when they're head on and you only see the one bugger and suddenly the one behind, usually the one with the Yorkshire terrier on the handlebars, pulls out and around and they pass you on both sides... Well the jet wash can be quite intimidating.
The same criteria also qualifies people for dole, sick pay, housing, free phones, clothing vouchers....
I think we owe Freedom a round of Huzzah's! for providing us a thread that lets us get this off our chests.
Come on Remal you must of seen some super size mobility scooters out there in the old U S of A, My mate went there said it was amazing, you think we have some tubby buggers here, its a whole new level out there isn't it ?
Do you know what, I see more fat people on them over here than in Florida. Amazing to say it but I feel people in the UK are getting bloody lazy and over taking the US yes there was a few but not as many as I see daily in Bristol. Saying that it is Bristol
PMSL ok guess Florida is the beautiful peoples state (you fitted in well I guess )and Bristol is just something quite different, I lived in Kingswood for 1.5 years and I have to agree with you
not at all, and you only lived down the road from me then. I would not say that about Florida the last few times I went. just that the UK is getting worse for the mobility scooters
Parking spaces are like girls at a party, you get there late and they are all taken, so you end up sticking it in the disabled one! Ooooh..................TAXI!
You think that's bad? I remember a day when there was only one rant thread on this site. This one! Now they're everyf ucking where! Yesterday it was.
