Im after getting a new chain and was wondering if you need to get new sprocket too? My bikes only a year old and done 3200 miles so not worn out, just fancy a nice gold shiny chain
I replace sprockets with chain. So yours have already covered 3200 miles. IMO it won't be long before one starts working against the other? Knackering the chain?
If your happy that both sprockets are as new with no wear, then I don't see why you couldn't fit just a shiney new gold DID chain. But if there's wear in them for what you can get the kit for over the price of just the chain you'd be a bit mad to not buy a full kit.
I bought a gold D.I.D kit 2 months back and it was only an extra £20 for front and rear sprockets so i thought why the hell not
Saying that if I was going to the trouble of fitting a new chain just for bling factor i'd deffinetly be fitting a new rear supersprox rear sprocket!
Honda CBR1000RR FIREBLADE 2006-11 DID Gold Extreme Upgrade X-Ring Chain | eBay I got one of these for mine , gold on inner links as well as outer Left front sprocket as still like new , replaced rear with a hard anodised renthal
Main dealer replaced the chain on my RRN at 16000 miles said both sprockets still in very good condition and didn't need replacing, sold it with 32000 miles showing still with original sprockets and second chain. Was also still using original discs and pads front and rear, used in most weather conditions. They knew how to make FireBlades in the old days.
is changing the sprockets and chain something i can do or am i going to have to get it done professionally?
