I have a HTC Desire with GPS, I would be looking at a phone mount myself BUT I do have a Garmin 550 and compared to my Tom toms's I have and used in the past I don't like it
Tom tom rider would be my choice for ease of use and just great sat navs

It works the same as a stand alone TomTom mate, use a telferizer mount and your all done.

Nope, i have it plugged into a fag lighter adapter, so its on when the bikes running, so doesnt zap battery, it charges it as your going. I'm using mine for my trip to Italy in may Rob.

Where did you get the phone case SI? Is it iPhone 4? Looks mint that.
I was going to go Tom Tom already fitted a cig lighter under seat. I used existing optimate lead and just plug in. Have to remember to remove though or will drain my battery.

I use a Garmin Zumo 660 with the most-excellent Telferizer RAM mount, which has served me very well over lots of European miles. Very easy to load routes and addresses from Google, great to use on the ride as nav is really clear with large icons, clear instructions, the excellent lane assist and you can use with gloves on, and you can retrieve the logs easily and create superb trip reports of where you went (and how fast!).

Not used a Tom Tom as they always looked too chunky for me, but they are usually rated as highly as Garmins.

Yes, you can buy either the UK and ROI, or all Uk and Europe. Same as the normal TomTom. You can use a bluetooth earpiece or a scala rider (which i use, as it's handy to talk to other mates on their bikes or take calls etc..) or you can just follow the screen instructions.

Have TomTom Urban rider with a Telfer mount. The TomTom sits in a dock that then fixes to the Telfer bit. The TomTom can be charged up and will last for 8 hours apparently. It comes with a passive mount that is not connected to a power supply, so Ok if you are not camping or can plug in and recharge. You can get an active mount that links to your battery and will not need re-charging. Have used this in France and Spain without too many problems. My maps are 2010 issue so any changes since confuse it. This seems to be more of a problem in small towns and villages where they have changed one way systems. Have updated using a TomTom account to try and get round this, but they want you to buy the new maps.

When you buy the case, it has the ball hole doohicky that mounts on the telferizer mount, its a standard ram mount size.
    The bits you need are:

the mount that i posted a link to, the telferizer mount, a charge cable for the iphone ( make sure you get a 2metre one, about £1 from Ebay) and either a bluetooth earpiece if you want to hear directions. Job done.
I gave my old tomtom one to the missus, as the iphone is moved between car and bike, i can use it as just a phone, sat nav, google maps, it's also very handy for emergency calls as it's all built in. That was the appeal for me anyway, as it cuts down on the gadgets on the bike etc by being all in one. It works very well, and is waterproof too. Easy to fit, easy to remove etc...

The iphone 4 and 4s has built in gps receiver ( ithink the 3gs has too), so you don't use wifi or 3g. You can also jailbreak the iphone and apparently use a cracked tomtom app from certain torrent sites which is free... but i wouldnt know about that.;)

Also, the cases aren't limited to iphones, theres a few for different phones out there, so anyone with HTC etc, can do the same thing if they so wish with their phones.:)
