On the (mostly out of use) airfield where I work they already do Car track days once a month, I'm interested in finding a company that would be interested in running a motorbike track day on this airfield. At the moment I'm not sure of the the cost of hiring it (will be much cheaper than a track) or the max volume level but if I can find an interested company we can push this forward as I have the contact to make this a possibility. I plan on setting up a 'station motorbike club' when I return from Canada in June. The airfield does occasionally get used for the local air cadets to fly and by some helicopters from various places but mostly it's empty and can be booked. There is a proviso - there must be a small amount of free places for the lads on barracks (and their friends ), the car track day gives 4 places to the camp and normally get one or two guys for each session.
There is already a bike trackday run near you on an airfield, RAF Benson. I think they do a couple a year over there and they do cheap trackdays at RAF Odiham as well, only about 35 mins from you i reckon.
Benson is really close and Odiham is an hour away but i've got a chance to set one up on my doorstep. Can anyone recommend a company that runs track days at airfield as those guys would be the best to set one up in Abingdon.
Of course its a little bit more than 'hiring' the track Ambulance Marshalls Food Wagon Tyre truck Wagon to collect broken/smashed up bikes Clean up truck for spillages Instructors (2 per group at least) Briefing room Briefing officer Admin staff Liability insurance You get the jist and the list goes on and on..... Anyway inters or fast group pls
Thats why I'm trying to find a company that already runs them on airfields, in theory they should be all over that stuff and therefore are the best guys to run one.
