Right chaps a little Q for you all! Ive had a set of alpinestars boot smx and gloves gp pro for 5 years and no bother fantastic quality love em!! So i fancy some new gloves and a ruck sack i buy alpinestars gp pro gloves latest ones had about a year done 3000 mile in them and there slowly coming unstiched and the leather going weird! also bought a alpinestars rucksack cant remember name but its the 150 notes one and ive had 2 zips fall and its slowly falling apart!! Both items bought off ebay seperate seller what would you do?? use em till fooked bag is nearlly useless now as the zips are main compartment and helmet bag gloves probs do another 5000 mile! Do i moan to alpinestars of just sack it off and buy the Kreiga rucksack and Knox android gloves haha!!
I'd moan at a stars, might get summat? Still buy the kriega tho. Androids? They look cool but the little plastic guards fly off them for fun. Only clip on bits, and my local dealer gives them me for nowt, apparantly knox supply them cos they keep falling off. And, bear in mind I only got out on my bike about 4 times before binning it and I gone through 3 of the plassy things.
I believe they moved production (along with most others) to Pakistan where quality has suffered. Could be wrong. I'd have a moan anyway, everyone else does might get you somewhere. Knox had an issue with the Handroids when they first came out, stitching mainly. I have a pair and can't complain, yet.
I also have GP pro's and a small a\star rucksack, had them for years and are still perfect. Some time ago I was on a Chinese wholesalers web site thinking of buying a few cycles and re-selling on ebay and I came across replica GP Pro's, they were being sold on the basis that you could not tell the difference. So I don't want to suggest the obvious Bat but are you absolutely sure they are genuine Alpine star I know you will not appreciate my rhetorical question but ebay is full of fakes even from plausible sellers?
Have a go, flower it up some stress the safety thing and see what you get. Might be a thanks but no thanks who knows. Alpinestars | Customer Service | Contact Customer Service
I have some A stars GP Pro gloves. Absolutely awe full. The leather stared wearing on the palms within a couple hundred miles. Showed em to Pidcock Honda when i was there getting my bike serviced (they are A Stars dealers too) as i suspected they were counterfeit. They checked them and think they are genuine. The fakes they know of have very "soft" knuckle protectors and you can bend them in half. Mine are stiff and seem OK. They say they have never seen the leather go like mine have.
A stars gloves are alwasy too small for me, even when I buy one size larger!!! (cuz I never bought one in store...)
I bought some Astars Jet Road gloves from a trade stall at the MCN bike show a couple of years back and the zip on the cuff of one of them broke on the second time of using them. Not having the receipt at hand or even the name of the place I bought them from, I contacted Alpinestars Cust Service to see if they were willing to help. They told me to send them back to their place in Italy and a couple of weeks later I received a brand new pair in the post. Top service, well pleased with them. Have also used the replacements many times with no issues so original pair just a faulty one-off, thankfully.
My GP Pros have been great . had them 3 years , covered roughly 10k miles , No defects at all bar a bit of wear on the throttle hand . Id complain man , see if you can get a new pair . If they are out of warranty and you go down the consumer law road then unfortunately your argument is with the seller which may be harder as they are on line
Agree with Dan. I skipped my usual response of passive-aggressive complaining as in this case Alpinestars had no obligation to me so I kept it amicable and just explained what had happened and said how disappointed I was in the gloves given that I am a long-time Astars fan and have never had any problems before with all of the Astars stuff I'd purchased previously.
