Yes mate, as you can see from the message above the door though "experimental aircraft". Very futuristic interior. Instead of having a shutter on the passenger windows, they are dimmable!
I think this landed at Manchester last week. Very nice .Sometimes i take the grandson to the Aviation center, besides the centre you can stand on the platforms and are only a matter of 100 yards from some of the biggies taking off.
That's a very nice bit of kit Ray. The design of the next gen civil aircraft have all got that organic flow about them that adds to the sex appeal somewhat. Or maybe that's just me...........? You've got some decent access there, how you earn a crust, I assume?
Looks cleaner and more up to date than the Aircraft I had to crawl all over and I bet there a damn site easier to work on now as well I do miss working on them, maybe I should do my licenses and start a fresh ? Its not the same sitting here looking at engineering drawings and manufacturers specs writing about them ! think I might have a Dear Ken moment coming !
Auntie Ken may not be so sympathetic. She's such and aviation anorak she probably regards your job as nirvana.
Lol, I work for the Airline that used to known as the world's favourite airline (other airlines are available ) The Dreamliner is being 'looked after' in one of our hangers whilst our engineers get to go and have a sneaky peek before the airline gets the aircraft. Also I think it's a bit of a peace offering as the release date for the aircraft kept getting put back. According to their leaflet it's the 'First all-new airplane of the 21st Century'.
That explains it. I thought that it had been a while since the fanfare of the launch to see one in the flesh as it were. I was at Farnborough when the A380 first appeared in display trim. The flight display was fantastic but not as much fun as watching them move a 747, an A340 and an A320 out of the way just to get it onto the runway. I was in the press enclosure, as near to the flightline as was allowed and as it swung off the apron, the wing tip passed over our heads.
Just done a check and yes it came to Manchester on 23rd of April The ''Dreamliner tour'' as what its called started at Seattle then to Heathrow then on to the city of dreams ''Manchester'' and then back across the Atlantic to carry on with the tour. 55 ft tall and a wingspan of 197 ft. .
Enjoy yourselves and remember, stash all the bike parts in your suitcase & leave all your clothes behind
