Looking to do my first track day next month and was considering getting track day insurance. What is the consensus of opinion? 1. Is it worth it? 2. Who is the best provider?
MCE do a policy of sorts covering 50% value if i remember for around £90....... others available but lots of small print clauses..... be careful to remove number plates and have a good story ready if you bin her..... prob cheaper to insure yourself for the day.......
Wether it's true or not? I have heard of occasions where a rider has crashed their bike whilst having a track day, and claimed it happened on the road? I looked into doing a track day and insuring my bike against smashing it, what Rob says above sounds about right. Only half the value of the bike, an incentive not to crash, but makes the story above a little more believable?
But they reckon they have spotters to make sure you don't do this, that's why most people take off their plates at the gates... Myth maybe, but better to be safe than sorry
Fcuk it my track bikes worth as much if not more than my road bike, I wrote the money off when I bought the bike!!! Seeing bikes on track just looks so right it's where their meant to be, seeing a bike with lights etc now just seems wrong lol
I cant post anymore it hurts too much !! Lol but as we ve no office of public information anymore " please be careful" !! Lol
If your thinking of paying track day insurance, and prepared to lose the excess, by a track bike, you will be bitten by the bug and will consider doing a Benn. Buying the best you can get! My first one cost £1100, it was brilliant had a V5 and I put it on the road as well, sold it for £1700 the second one cost £1600 even better, got my money back after a season of trackdays my latest is a k5 gixxer 1000 Im not saying what I paid for it. I have put it on the road as well and it is brilliant. I have no worries if I bin it other than being a lot pi@@ed off, spares should make a good part of the money back. I still have a nice road bike which I can enjoy not worrying about putting it up the track.
Mate you got more chance of crashing n the road. Took my 6 month old repost on track at pembrey last July. Best thing I did. Got Anglesey weekend booked for 2 weeks time. Just take your time and enjoy. And yes my no plate comes off before I get to the track
