I'm having a huge revamp of my garage this week, Asbestos roof off, new work bench, shelves, maybe flooring but I also want to replace my crap old Fluorescent Light's. they have no cover but in 14 years I've never managed to hit them. am looking for some ideas on what to replace them with. Currently have 2 twin 5foot tubes. can't be more than 24-35 watt each. I would like more light. but also either a cage or weather proof cover to protect them. Again any idea's were is best to look. i've been on B&Q, Wickes, Ebay, tool station... most places that are online won't sell the tubes due to damage. So helpful comments welcome and any recommendations ?
IMO LED is the future, a nice White light to work with. Spot lights for where the bike sits. Painted Walls and floors are a must for bouncing that extra light around. I noticed the difference.
What you looking to do with the floor, Rem? I'm getting a bit sick of the amount of dust in my garage. I've heard horror stories of garage floor paint refusing to take if your floor's dusty.
Costco do a garage floor cover, that is oil and petrol resistant. I have the foam floor panels at the moment but they have been down for years. Have tried floor paint without much success.
Check out HSE website on the subject and note the dust left behind after removal. One breath of this shit and you are finished .
Use unibond to seal the concrete first, then apply the paint, all you need to do is water the unibond pva down as per the instructions on the container.
It's the concrete roof panels. So just unbolt and remove. Hoping it's not going to be as bed as your making out. Would rather it be removed then left to get worse.
Asbestos is bloody expensive to deal with. Strange while it's dormant. I.e on your roof, it's not a problem. The minute you want to remove it you get guys in bio suits sucking through their teeth running round taping everything up and putting it in special bags? And then bang £££££££££. And yeah the floor pva or similar will seal it. Again. Sweeping it and getting that cement dust in your lungs. I got my paint from work. We use it on the substation floors. Good stuff anti tracking too so no little electric shocks either
Cheers, mate. If I do get around to doing it I'll definitely seal if first. I don't think it'd be so much of an issue if I didn't actually park my car in there but I do
Bugger, looked online at the LED hut and seems it would cost £300 to get some good light with LED. Going back to normal lights me thinks
I tend to wait until it's a quiet time of day with nobody around and then just blow all of the dust out of the garage with a leaf blower
Now micro fibre cloths yeah. But I reckon your pulling my chain saying you use sunshine. Where would you get that I wonder My compressor blew up recently. Seeing as you mentioned leaf blower I though. Hmm idea mate council gardener blade dry Guess its a new comp then Tool station or halfords. Don't tell me mate
