What do people generally do? I was just thinking about this earlier on because I tend to prefer riding by myself. I get a little bit frustrated riding as a twosome or more because you're either wishing people would speed up or slow down and I tend to find that I'm concentrating more on what's happening with the others than I am on riding and enjoying stringing the corners together I read someone posting on another forum who said that they hate riding alone and I just wondered what other people's preferences were?
Case in point. From my run out today from Teesside over the Pennines to Penrith and back again today. Only bike there today. That's the first time I've seen that
I don't mind a blast out by myself now again to get the stress of a hard week out of the system, but personally I prefer to be out with 1 or 2 mates. Maybe it's just for the banter and piss taking, but I feel like it's more of a "Road Trip!!!" when out with the mates.
90% of the time I go on my own. Because: - I often only decide at the last minute - I tend to go a long way (100 to 300 miles) and not stop anywhere for very long, which doesn't suit many people - I don't like going with faster riders who don't wait (if I'm with slower rider(s) then I will subtly slow on the straights so that there's no pressure on the others) - I've got no mates!
I often commute on the 929 so get plenty of time to ride on my own. I personally like riding with a group, as we ride together often we're fairly matched in terms of pace.
I do enjoy riding on my own, when the kids where small it was a great stress reliever.Mummies gone AWOL again.
I like a good thrash out on my own from time to time but do enjoy when there's a few of us, although our group is getting smaller and smaller I tend to be billy no mates more often than not :-((
It depends on my mood, some times I enjoy riding alone going as fast or as slow as I like. I also enjoy riding as a small group of between 3 and 6 of us which tends to happen most, taking it in turns to lead us until we are really lost. Once a week if good weather we meet at a pub about 25miles from us and go on a massive ride out with loads of people this can be really fun if a good bunch but some days u get people that aren't as considerate and you end up getting split at lights/junctions etc which kind of ruins the day! I supose that doesn't really answer the question lol
i enjoy being in a group if everybody is at the same pace (fast or slow) but hate going out and the group constantly breaking up due to mixed ridding ability. I also prefer to ride at the back of the group because i know i can keep up with who im out with but dont like leading as i feel as if im either going too slow or too fast and others are pushing to keep up i only ride really fast when im on my own so i have 100% concentration and nobody around to mess my lines up
Tend to ride most with my best mate or with Sam (wife).......... all my other friends are loons with one leg shorter than the other, plates etc, dont feel im missing out riding like that....
Sundays is definitely a boys and their toys day around these parts. We love to get together for a ride out, especially after one of our Saturday night garage nights. We have no pressure who's fastest or that kind of stuff, we all know where we are going, and we all know how to get there, I guess we should share the responsibility of leading but I guess we are either very happy or lazy, because Bats almost always gets the job of being in front leading the way? I went out last Wednesday and had a cracking day on my own, I only missed the pi$$ taking and crake, the riding was about the same apart from instead of following a back light I had to think a little more. This is not a bad thing. Even when riding alone though, do you not find yourself tagging onto people? I guess the answer to you question for me is if you like socialising go with your mates, if you just want to get on and ride? As Fleetwood mac sang, Go your own way. But what ever your choice, the main thing, enjoy it, what ever you like. As above, that hasn't really answered your question either has it
Normaly out on my own which i quite like But had a recent run with Megawatt which was cool and last Friday i went out with a guy would works subcontract to us and he has just bought a 848 he has had bikes for years and can ride fast and safe i followed him on his run and really enjoyed it mainly because he rides very similar to me which is ''get on with it' so no pissing about weather to overtake cars ect ,we had a couple of toy battles and the 848 can really power out of corners had such a good time i went out on my own Sat night and had a good blast .I used to go out down to Wales with about 5 others and again it was good but only because the ability was about the same so there was no stopping to wait for a stradler ,i have done it and its not good because you spend to much time looking in the mirror.
Always prefer riding on my own. Pick my own pace to suit my mood. Pick where I'm going and can change my mind on the way. If I'm getting a day where I'm not getting in the groove I can abort without spoiling someone else's day, and, of course there's no temptation to get competitive and beckon the red mist. On my way home tonight a geezer on a speed triple wazzed up behind me at the lights, shot past me and beckoned me to follow him but I had no problem declining his offer cos I didn't know him. If it was a mate then there could well have been an "oh no you didn't" moment. So riding with the lads is okay, but like Ash, I use my bike mainly for being on me todd.
Dosnt worry me Fez. I just let Bats and Windy off the leash, sit back and see if all my hard work at nurse training school will finally get some use
