Now that I've changed to Castrol Honda fairings my previous insurer won't renew my policy. So before I start making numerous phone calls and online quotes, can anyone recommend a 'race-rep friendly' insurer? Nothing useful has come up under a forum search. Cheers
I've never had it mentioned that race reps add any cost to insurance and I've had a few race reps now. Is it just one insurer or the lot?
Just the one (Aviva via Motorcycle Direct) as they were quite competitive last time in price. I've already done lots of online quotes recently and nobody comes any where near what I paid last time round. Who are you with?
I'm with mce. This is 2nd year in a row with them and 3rd time overall in last 5 years. I had a break from them because their quotes were outrageous for a few years but then dropped massively so went back to them. Plus I get pit lane walks and some other stuff for Brit superbikes.
when going for race fairings on my blade I am going to having it sprayed in Orange. Thus keeping with the colour on the V5 and hoping not to need to change anything or say much. Unsure if I would need to. but as for your question sorry I can't help. Worth tying some of the larger bike specific insurers maybe?
Just got off phone to Carole Nash who are supposedly one of the biggest firms and they gave me a ridiculous quote. Gonna need to rent a garage of someone near me and go through my old insurance papers to find out exactly how many years no claims bonus I've got to get my quotes down. Mission!!!
Try; Go compare or Compare the market.com. Over the last few years, they have both given me the cheapest quotes.
I was with Carole Nash at the time i had the Playboy rep at the requote time (last minute) i decided to tell them and they banged on £50.00 extra so when it came to the next quote and although i had sold the bike i went to Swinton told them about the can ect and they beat the arse off Carole Nash so give Swinton A try .
I've just renewed my insurance with swinton today, I know Cornwall is cheap for insurance but they gave me a very good price plus £30 cash back in 90 days time!
Stick the old fairings back on until you can get a quote, don't leave the bike uninsured, its sods law it'll go for a walk.....
On my V5 it says 'colour: orange' for my repsol. doesnt mention race rep, is it same with everyone else or if i need to claim will MCE tell me I should have declared it a race rep?
I simply changed the colour on the v5 and insured it as standard. As long as it matches the V5 records it's legit.
TBF for once to the insurers i think the reason they need to know and charge the uplift is when a claim is made there are no 'shocks 'as the race rep panels would be insured and if they prove to be more expensive than the standard panels its ok because there were aware and an agreement would be in place like for like.
