    Hi guys ,

Was puttin the fairing back on today, should've given in earlier as I seemed to drop everything I picked up!!

Anyway, I was putting the tank cover on and manged to drop one of the screws that secures it at the front (just under the hesd). It fell down in front of the airbox. Can I find it? Not likely!!

Short of stripping the airbox off etc... Dies anyone have any thoughts as to what I should do? I must admit unless anyone thinks otherwise my plan is just carry on and ride in the hop it'll rattle down and out or settle somewhere harmless.

The airbox wasn't open or anything so as far as my limited knowledge goes there's no way of it getting inside the engine.

    Any thoughts??

    Nick

I did the exact same. Wiggled the bike around and heard it drop into the belly pan region.

You need a long magnet. Screwfix.

Or snap some CHAV's telescopic ariel off their car and tape a magnet on the end.

I've shook the bike every which way to no avail. I've run it up too, just in case it vibrated it out.

I did think about the long magnet, but would need to wait till I'm down next time (it lives at my moms you see). It might have to wait for that if needed

To be honest mate, and this judgement is based purely on my shit luck, if after waggling, shaking, bouncing and kicking the bike, if the.screw doesnt appear I would strip it down before it falls out on a ride and punctures my back tyre. Probably BRAND new back tyre at that. Having said that, again based on my shit luck, i'd more than likely strip it all down and still not find it. Until I knelt on the bastard 26ft away from where it has any right to be. Ho hum....

Yeah, I do have this niggling feeling that full strip down is the safest way forward.

If its only a chance if it falling out tho, I'm tempted to risk it. It's any engine damage I'm concerned about

I did the exact same thing on my old 08..... Stripped right down to fit the pc111, took ages for me to do, putting it all back together and on borrowed time too, the tank cover bolt spacer sleeve dropped out to exactly the same place as yours. I couldn't rest not knowing, so the next eve I took it all apart again and found it between frame and airbox. It could never have done any harm but I felt happier knowing where it was.

That's where I suspect mine is. There was a definite frame sounding 'tink' if you see what I mean.

Definitely airing towards leaving it there till either next time or whenever it fancies liberating itself. I'm in no rush for the bolt as I've plenty left over lol

It defo can not get in the air box mate and I know exactly where it will be (if not same as 1000rr73), sat on the rubber water shield that covers the rocker cover (if rr8-11), I have found "spare" ones there many times where dealers have dropped them and replaced them....lol Norm it's the spacers that get lost too.... just get another and stick it in there until your in there again next time....

Last week I put a new LCD in Jeanette's camera. How the hell do they fit those tiny, flimsy ribbon cables at anything like production line speed. They were so small I couldn't grip them, let alone fit the bloody things safely into their sockets. I had to strip it back three times before I got it to fire up.

Saved £300 mind, which made the ball ache a lot more tolerable.

Thanks Arthur, appreciate your input (everyone else's too)

It's an RR5 if it makes any difference. But I'm happy with that verdict, kinda what I suspected and was swaying towards but appreciate the confirmation.

It will be cool mate, I lost one on my RR7 for ages but found it about 6 months later!

Off topic but how do they get those phones together so fast! Check out the speaker I stripped down, man the winding are TINY and in front of the pin nose tweezers is the tiny neodymium magnet and you would not get how powerful that little magnet is! Shocking......
