Think i am going to order these once i am back from my trip around scotland. LSL Bar Conversion Kit - Honda CBR 1000 RR Fireblade 08-10 (NON ABS) I love the blade but just not the full on sports position so rather than spending x ammount on trading in going to keep the blade. Pics to follow once i have found someone to fit them.
Did you read this bit mate? Some bikes may require modification to the fairing or screen to allow the use of a LSL superbike bar conversion
yes i did and asked them via email and the blade is fine no mods at all to the fairing just a longer brake line that comes with the kit
I've fitted these to my 09 bike, very good but they do need some engineering skills as you'll need to drill holes for the handle bar controls etc. I found the bars a bit wide so I cut them down by about 15mm each bar and that gave a bar width about the same as standard. Had them on a year or so now and found a good improvment to the riding position, doesn't spoil the riding position in my opinion. If you don't have engineering skills but can but do a bit of spannering then the helibars are worth looking at as they are pre-drilled with all the holes for the controls etc and you can also refit the original bar end weights from the OE bars, they are actually about a 150mm long damper assy. My mate fitted the helibars and he's pretty pleased with them. I can post some pics if anyone is interested
yes im interested to i fitted some thing like that rised the bars on a mates blade and to get a full turn we hat to cut the top fairin mmmmmmmmmmm
shouldnt need to cut the fairing on the blade 08-11 as long as the bars dont have a rise more than 50mm. LSL sell these see website.
No cutting of fairing or any alterations to the bodywork or lock stops required on the Fireblade. You need to look out for the brake lines and the clutch cable. LSL provide the brake lines though I already had braided lines fitted and they were a bit longer than standard so were ok. The brake light switch is operated by a piece on the brake lever underneath and you have to be careful that it doesn't bind on the LSL clamp. Be careful with the clutch cable too, I found on full lock, left bar to the tank, it was tight. As per my earlier post I shortened the bar tubes on my LSL set up and that also sorted the clutch cable. If the LSL bars are sounding a bit too much work, I have to admit it took a bit fiddling to get em they way I wanted them but maybe I'm fussy. The helibars need less messing with and don't need any alterations to the fairing either.
Thanks for that gregr, i am useless with spanners i do like the look of the lsl set up but i am now toying with the idea of helibars, do you have any pics with yours fitted? cheers gary
Just realised you guys are on about the superbike bar conversion originally, clamps on the top yoke for flat bars, they look sh1t to me but that's my opinion - I have the LSL Tour Match clip ons which are a set of raised clip ons http://lsl.eu/pdf/LSL_Katalog_2012_Stummel.pdf The Helibars are similar but are fabricated from tube welded to a fork tube clamp.
Here's a uk link, the Tour Match bars give 50mm rise and 20mm back Tour Match Bars - Honda CBR 1000 RR Fireblade 08-10 and to my mind do not spoil the look of the bike like the flat bars
I would never ever fit flat bars to a Blade, i saw an R6 with them on.... good god, they spoilt the whole bike and he may well have been riding a Honda Hornet etc, the tour match ones are nice but i agree that the Helibars seem to fit the bill, i have been keeping my eyes open for a set of Helibars or Tour Match for my 954.
Went for helibars in the end fitted 2day 1st impressions are good will report back once i have done a 150 miler
