Looking for a new lid, as my Rx7 looks little over used..

Was thinking of picking up another RX7 from ebay for near the £250..

Is there something else someone may recommend?

Must be light and no very noisy.. I don't like the pointy shape of the AVG Lids..

I moved from Arai's for the last 5 years, to using HJC R-PHA 10's now, the Spies lid. I use the white version though, it's got great venting, comes with clear and light tinted visor, with dark tint available too, is much lighter than any Arai i've used, it's no louder, looks cool as f**k and one has saved my head already a couple of weeks back in a crash. I race with these all the time now...

Can't beat the shoei xr range for the money - so comfortable and top quality

I've settled on Shoeis now as the noise reduction, build quality and fit far exceeds any other manufacturer I tried. Fit is obviously down to the individual but the build quality and feel of the AGV felt really poor in comparison to both the Arai and Shoei helmets I've owned.

The Arai Viper GT I had was ok, but what let it down was the god-awful visor release mechanism. I lost many an hour (and temper!) over the course of owning it on the stupid system they use, so much so that I'll never buy another Arai. Don't know how they manage to change them so quickly in the TT pit stops, so hats off to those that do! The Shoei is 1000 times better and so easy to swap visors.

    What Bongo said.

I went from Shoei to the HJC R-PHA lid (Ben Spies lid) and it's awesome. Really light, quieter than the shoei, feels really plush & a damn sight cheaper.

Arai visor change system is excellent and very easy to use. Strange that you owned one and couldn't do it!

Where are you buying RX7s for 250? Not used?

It's possible I had a faulty one but the fact you have to guide the prongs on the visor into a certain part of the sidepod which you couldn't see was an annoyance at best, and almost impossible at worst, particularly when the sidepod used to flex out and unseat the other side that you'd just put in! I think after a couple of changes my helmet's visor mechanism was shot so I gave up as was taking 20-25 minutes each time.

Shoei's is soooo much easier, you could almost do it whilst wearing the helmet!

You can remove an Arai visor yourself whilst wearing the helmet. And fit it back on. There is a knack to it though, I'll admit, but normally, people just need to do it a few times then it's second nature.

I hate to gloat but I've had a Viper GT for the past 3 years and I reckon I could take the visor off and put it back on again in under 10 seconds :D

Just on the helmet subject, I had no idea that manufacturers made helmets with different internal head shapes. Finding that out made a world of difference to my choice. I'd previously struggled with helmets resting on the front and back of my noggin and kinda wobbling around, especially when turning my head to check blind spots. I'd also come back from rides with a red hotspot on my forehead. The Viper GT was instantly comfortable for me because of the shape and all of a sudden I can ride around for hours without and bother. The only thing I don't like about it is the noise. Switching from my previous AGV was a bit of a shock. Significantly louder it was :D

Everyone is too gentle with Arai visors. Do it rough and tough and quick and it flies in.

    Probably not only you !

Everything looks easy in the video as long as you do it yourself.
It needs a little bit practice , that's all.
