Had a wonderful day Sunday 17th June Took the road to Chippenham, then to Cirencester had to stop for the police a plane was taking up the road. On to Gloucester and Ross-on Wye then Hay super roads very quiet. Short stop at Mynydd Ddu Tea Rooms on to Abergavenny, Monmouth Chepstow over the bridge and back home. I had so much fun on this blade I want to buy another one. And back home 230 miles in 4 1/2 hours almost non-stop and only pain was in my ears as I was late for Dinner
Keep promising myself a trip to Hay, but Jeanette keeps finding alternatives. She knows about all the second hand bookshops so will go out of her way to stop me.
Blimey I haven’t been there for years, used to be a once a year pilgrimage with the ex, used to be quite relaxing to wander round mooching among the old book stores, nice boozy lunch then bog off to a hotel for a “nap” before dinner. I think the hotel was called Llangoed Hall or something like that, very nice romantic hotel with four poster beds etc. Worth a punt if you want to impress the pants of yours or some else’s wife.
I'd be too shit scared to try and impress your ex wife David, and probably too tempted to put a pillow over her face while she was having her afternoon nap.
tis a lovely place with great roads. been up that way a few times on the bike and in the kit car. mostly up via the black mountains
also noticed the cafe is on the way from abber to Talgarth. never stopped there as the roads very close and very fun
My House My family used to live in Hay 5 generations at least came from Hay, here is a photo of the house we lived in from my G G Grandfather to me. The white building was the toilet and the pot is still in the garden, it was connected straight to the brook. The brook after very heavy rain used to flood up to the windows of the house. Next door to this house is a B&B (a biker friendly B&B) called the Kingfisher, the owner used to give me bars of chocolate 40 odd years ago it was called the Nelson then. I have never stayed there. This house was build for Railway workers and my GG granddad paid rent but later my Dad bought the house I think for £1500, put in central heating and a bathroom in 1969. The house next door with the blue door last sold for £1500.00 but is now up for sale at £140000.00 The house was built over the road Hay station (long gone) I think the last train ran in 1965 but was not used as a main line from 1963. Many happy days were spent in that damp house going to sleep to the sound of the brook; if it went quiet you got worried as you knew it was rising.
If I knew then what I know now I would have done the same thing, I would not have lost so much money, hair or sanity, could be almost half way through my good boy best behaviour porridge and leave with a first class degree in something useful , I even bet my arse wouldn’t be a sore as it is today.
I can see what you mean Honda, although i am staying a few miles away near Ledbury all the roads around here are full on biking roads but there are no bikes around /no cops and no cameras. i may see if a couple of Cheshire dudes fancy an early Sunday run would be easy down the A49 all the way from Warrington its a must do .
Point 1: I think they call that grooming nowadays Point 2: Was the house damp from peeing the bed after going to sleep to the sound of the running water
