My front tyre is 100 odd miles old, and came to use it today for work, and is flat as a fluke...nearly dropped the bike at the end of the road. Seeing as it's brand new, would you repair it? I haven't had time to see if it's a nail etc... but will look tonight when i finish. If it's a nail in the top etc...would you repair it or bin it and get a new one?? Hopefully it's a leaky valve, but it was ok yesterday... £130 down the swanney.
Puncture repairs..... depending on type of repair can be ok as far as im aware..... internal patch or bung if its done professionally but i guess its peace of mind especially at high speeds.....
I've had tyres plugged and never had a issue with fast riding on it. as long as it's within 75% of the center or something like that I would get future ones plugged, done by a pro not myself
No would be my non professional view! And it's noteworthy that most reportable organisation will not repair on safety grounds! Why would you risk it, I appreciate £130 is a lot HOWEVER!!!
I had my rear tyre done last month as it only had covered 500 miles. its been fine since even when i have given it a handful.
iv'e ha d a couple of repairs done, both times i was told as long as it's in the middle of the tyre it's fine..
I have a brand new tyre on my z1000 it had only don't 35 miles! Had it plugged and it lasted the life of the tyre around 5000 miles! So I would say yes, but get it done by a pro
done track days on plugged tyres and Dave had his rear done recently for same reason before we went away - his tread was worn away by the time we found replacements and you could visible see the plug but he had no issues with it at all.
had loads of repairs , never had a problem ,if you were a tyre manufacturer , you would say replace the tyre wouldnt you? as you are likely to replace it with the same make.
I personally wouldn't. For what it's worth, you can have a Metzeler Racetec Interact off me for nowt if you like. Got a few here, part worns but tons of life in them especially for the road. (They were taken off after just 2 races.
What a deal!! Bung bongo a nice bung n get some hoops wi no chicken strips. (lend him ya sliders too Si).
Blaggers, your a git. LOL., but i bet you my fanny strips are less than yours. Cheers guys, i've had a look and can't see anything lodged in the tyre. I had a 90 degree tyre valve extension on to help aid check pressures etc... and have took it off and pumped the tyre up, and tightened the valve. I'll see what it's like in the morning, as it could be not sealing properly if it goes down again, so right back to the tyre fitters if it does deflate. I've done the old spit test on the valve, so no leaks. Cheers.
I have had repairs on my last bike - no issues. My brother did too, and used his bike on the track - no issues.
Had mine repaired as well no issues after, but I would take up Bongo on his offer if you need to as they are great tyres
