Another summer drowning in record rainfall. Beginning to wonder if it's worth all the money for a few good days riding a year, of which 70% I have to work. Can't take much more of this!

It's awful mate isn't it? It really gets me down, it's grey, dark, cold and wet. I suffer from S.A.D anyway, but for it to last this long is a piss take.

Yep its really depressing. but it doesnt really cost much for the bike to be sat in the garage. unless its on finance that is

Its horrible, sideways rain and blowing a gale out here, on a plus point, Fast Bikes just dropped through the letter box.

It is just never ending. Was supposed to have gone to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, but it is the first year I haven't done so in ages and I think it is a blessing in disguise, as I reckon it will piss it down non stop.

I was just thinking the same thing when I was brushing my teeth this morning. Not so much about packing in motorcycling, just whether it might make more sense to have a bike and clothing that's better suited to wet, crappy weather.

What was going on yesterday Crin. I ran down to the post office and I thought the rain was going to make my head bleed. The only good bit of the day was drowning all the cyclists on Bridge Road, driving through the standing water on the way home.

I usually go to Goodwood Robin. Maybe next year we could hook up and I'll buy you a pint of weed killer beer.

This got me thinking: 2011 abs blade brought new in beginning of July last year

    Insurance £550.00
    Road Tax £72.00
    Depreciation based on 20% £2400.00
Loss of interest on money in bank based on 1.5% £180.00
Dealer service inc high screen £290
    Total Cost £3492
    Miles ridden 740
Cost per grinning face mile £ 4.72

This is quite shocking and excludes all the money spent on modifications, leathers, helmet, boots and gloves etc.

Is it worth it, financially not, the way it makes you feel, worth every penny.

that sounds like a good plan, just start saving for the beer now though, as they know how to charge for it!

Never done goodwood, but would love to - maybe next year.

Freedom - ride more, then the price per smile I mean mile will come down and you'll enjoy it even more lol

Definitely agree and would never sell up but really down in the dumps with it at the moment. Every year seems to be worse than the one before. Was supposed to be living in Oz by now but had to put that on the back burner for now.

Oh well, anyone seen the forecast? When can we expect some decent weather?

It would make a relatively central venue for a general meet up for the members from the south anyway.

I love it. The virtually unlimited access is unthinkable and the atmosphere is palpable. Plus, John Surtees stood on my foot there once.

I'll never get that bone set...

Although I have done my fair share of wet weather riding. I would no longer choose to - sucks all the fun out of it for me with cold soggy gear, misted visor and skid-pan roads... I'll just take the car and have a good old moan on the forum ;-)

Goodwood is just immense. i don't know of anywhere where you can get so close to such priceless machinery without somebody telling you to keep your distance. All I would say, is do it for the full 3 days, as a single day is nowhere near enough to get it all in. The Sunday is also mad busy, as the F1 boys come along to play and this brings in even more by the way of crowds. Can i sense a 1000rr.co.uk meet there next year?

Just checked the forecast and the sun is due out on 12th August from 09.12 until 10.47. it is then off to South of France for the remainder of the summer.

My thoughts exactly mate. Back in the day, I had no choice but to ride in all the crap that the sky threw at me as it was my transport for work and play. I believe that earned me the right, now that I have a choice to say "Fcuk that!", when riding the bike is a chore not a joy. Been there, done that, had the stitches.

Where were you lot when we had two months of record breaking dry weather in march / April? Just got to get out there when you get the chance.. And hope that it will get better.

Chins up boys, might be nice next weekend and we can all stop crying our eyes out!!
