will let you know , im gonna fit them today, if i can get my arse in to gear, just come off nights & dont want to bugger them up lol
Don't over tighten them, sure you won't but I think off the top of my head the are only 20Nm, I THINK without looking...rear is 40ish I THINK.....
i have only put front discs on but i borrowed a torque rench from work, Yes you are correct with 20Nm for the front. I may just of pulled 1 slightly, but didnt try to take it out and try angain, its got loctight on so will leave it be - hope it will be ok
I just nip them up, the problem with tourque wrenches is you tend to forget to feel whats going on, they take your eye off the ball if you know what I mean, half the time most people strip more threads with one than without.. :S
God I've had problems with my brake discs. My bike weathers out 24/7 & these EBC rotory discs are going rusty. Is there anything you can put on them to stop this. I feel probably not as any repellant would be oil based. Not a good idea
No defo no oil mate and no nothing you can do, sadly better stopping often equals more ware and more iron content over say an OEM disc that has much less iron. Cast iron discs will rust in damp conditions in a matter of hours as a rule if your discs go rusty it's a sign they will work well....lol Not good for looks I hate to say...one other thing is the rust will prob do little harm as long as its not excessive and will be clean again after short use... I'm surprised they contain so much iron tbh.
Do you ever wish you hadn't done something. I wish I never had my wheels power coated. Cause broke a bolt putting the discs back on, bought new discs because thought they were warped. Not so sure now, bought second hand EBC Discs, now they just shudder when I brake. I'm well p*ssed off. Can't afford wavey discs so what should u do ??
Timmy, just a thought have you checked to see if the disc is free to move on the six carrier points? They can seize up and cause judder. You can free them off by putting something in the hole and turning them. ( more common on older bikes) but if it's kept outside its worth a check bud.
Hi it didn't do it when I had the original OME discs on only since I put these EBC ones on. I'm sorry I don't understand what you mean by the carrier points
Where the disc mounts to the carrier it's joined by six round bobbins spaced around the disc. These can seize up. It may not be the cause of your shudder but it was on my rrw.
Good point! also if the discs are second hand try unbolting one and moving it round one bolt hole, if the discs were used for some time they often settle and when remounted in another position they judder, reason is they bed in as a pair and when remounted ones worn differently on the carrier, the floaters are to allow for expansion of the outer steel disc when hot in case you wonder why they are there. Without them the outer would become tight when hot and warp!
No better today on the way to work even though I freed up a number of floating spacers. I think I am gonna put back on the original OEM rotory discs back on. Does anyone have a fireblade 954 cause the floating spacers are all solid, should they be like that or should they be free moving
Well thank god thats done , ive put the original OEM discs back on and the judder has stopped along with the squealing when i brake ..Noticed yesterday when i had the callipers off. on one side the pistons were equally spaced to the pad, but the other side two were further out than the others if that makes sense?Could this be my problem with my brakes binding? I re bled them again, much more responsive than the EBC discs !! Never doing any more refurbing on my wheels its cost me a Bloody fortune
