I know I know, yet another exhaust question.....

With the akra road legal pipes on the 08-11 is there any running / fuelling difference with baffle in or out? Is it a better noise or just a bit louder?

    Thanks

Cant comment on noise but i would think with the baffle out it will not run as smooth at low revs as there will be less back pressure in the exhaust system

but who cares get it out

Only had it in for about a mile then it came out, deeper sound but not far off the baffle in and smooth as with it in or out :)

In............................... out........................... shake it al about.............................

You put your left leg in..............................

I have tried both but it really does not make a huge amount of difference.

+1 what Jamie said, sounds much deeper and IMO much nicer, not noticed any difference in fuelling etc. Not planning on putting mine back in anytime soon.

Im sure the baffle makes no difference in fueling, as long as there's cat and exhaust flapper(working) in the midpipe.

The baffle will make a small difference to the fuelling. I use different maps for in and out.

Out. But can make bike run lean at cruising speed as I was told after having mine on the dyno.

Thanks, I'm presuming from the next reply after yours that it makes it run leaner does it? Is that something that will be noticeable or could it even create problems longer term? I'm assuming this is why you have 2 maps. I'm all for noise but not to the detriment if running, power, or engine longevity.

I always thought the blades ran a bit rich anywY ( don't know why I think that), so perhaps running leaner would be a good thing?

I wouldn't worry mate you won't damage the engine by just running a slip on with baffle out.

Well its out, and first impressions are it seems to wind up quicker in the midrange (butt dyno so highly inaccurate) and certainly as others said it sounds deeper, but not by much. It'll certainly be staying out though for now.

Do akra misalign the baffle bolt hole on purpose? Seems others hsve had this too and it makes it a real pita. Simplified by taking the silencer off but still not easy. This had an 8mm bolt which made it even trickier but that's now swiftly replaced by an Allen headed bolt to make it a lot easier in future.

When I fitted my exhaust we first started it with it in and thought it sounded great!!!
Then we took it out and went for another run and put it this way I wouldnt even be able to tell you where it is now!
Its nice to hear the difference though

I'm using a leovince gppro slip on and I find that it performance better on street riding especially at the lower rpm with the baffle on.

I would have it out - the louder you are the more aware the road users are of your presence!
