Use it all the time mate - no bothers and gets the lube of so easily... Although keep away from calipers, and when you first ride again, keep an eye on the brakes for five mins as if you get any on disks etc they won't work first pump! Lol
If it we me I'd use some nice soap/wax-wash or a citrus cleaner watered down, then wax them after... Don't think the WD would do much harm but the orange top coat on Repsol wheels is prone to wiping off leaving the yellow undercoat showing through I'd avoid any oil or chemical cleaner with the wheels if you want them to remain bright and nice..
as i have white wheels i have had lots of practice in the art of cleaning wheels, wd40 is very good at removing just about everything but using a water based substance will make things alot easier as you can just squirt it anywhere and then wash straight off

I sometimes use it sprayed on a cloth and wiped on the wheel only. Just don't get any on the tyres as it can soak in and compromise grip levels.
Don't spray on the wheels, just onto an old wrag to wipe it off! Don't know any better so could be wrong?? But I don't have gay orange wheels so that worry wouldn't cross my mind! Lol

Snap - my others are black or White, no sign of orange in these parts lol It's a known fact, orange wheels are slower
I take it non of you guys have ever sealed your wheels? I had 20" multi spoke wheels on my car..am cleaning them was a pain! So I used ironx to remove the brake dust and waxed and used poor boys wheel sealer on them.. For the next 3 months all I did was jet wash the wheels as no grease, brake dust would stick to it.. Hoping to do the same here..
It's the crap of the chain that's the problem if it stops that then I will be doing mine, keep me posted of it works mate
by far the best,and cheapest way to get grease,road tar,oil etc off is furniture polish,and the cheapest home brand,no need for for fancy pledge.
Mr sheen polish is by far the best thing for cleaning your wheels removes everything with ease and doesn't leave a greasy residue like WD40 been using it for 12 yes now!
I have always used Muc-Off Motorcycle Degreaser... its water-based, and easily shifts chain wax... always spray it on a cloth (not directly on the wheel) and wipe.
