Hi, had a good chat with the guys on the Blade run up north yesterday about tyres, my blades a 2010 (on a 2012 plate) currently on Dunlop Qualifiers which I'm really not getting on with, might just be in my head but they felt crap in the VERY wet!! Was thinking about Bridgestone S20 but firebloke has heard that you'll only get 1700 miles out of them! Using them for just roads with the odd track day and the ring planned.

What's everyone else running? Any advise greatly appreciated before I stump up £250+!!

2170 miles from a rear so far, inc a trip from Cornwall to the IOM and back with much hooning in-between and since. Will be looking to replace in another couple hundred I would think.

Loving the S20, will certainly be sticking with them.

Hello, mate. I feel like I'm on a Metzeler M3 sales pitch here considering that I've mentioned them about 3 times in the last couple of days but I've been really impressed with them. I've not felt like I'm even close to unsticking them on the road. Not sure how they'd fair on track but they're a bargain since they've been replaced by the M5.

Go To TST Tyres in Risley i got a set of Michelin 2CTs for about £220. Fitted on the bike. Great tyre also had these suckers on a GSXR1000 and no issues at all.

I use the new Michelin Power Pure 2CT's and I love them, not had a 'moment' with them, even when caught out in the wet. Duel compound, light and I will definitely be buying them again.

By the way - you've opened up a big can of worms as everyone likes they're own tyres and can get quite passionate about them

And if you're ready to get bored to death about tyres then read this sticky: http://1000rr.co.uk/mods-upgrades-accessories-products/309.htm

I had Metzler M3's on my bike when I bought them and absolutely hated them (ask Guy how cautious I was on them) but it could have been down to the odd way the bloke before me had worn them down.

And what about the 55 section conversation? Anyone changed from the standard sizes?

2CT is Two Compound Tyre and most new Michelins fast road tyres have this.

    Same as above.

I think going for the 55 profile will be suitable for tracks but could cause more chance of a centre flat spot on the road.

All of bridgestones sports tyres dont last 5 mins. Nothing wrong with my diablo rosso corsas, they did have a couple of wiggles on sunday but im putting that down to "the road from hell". Cant comment on tyre wear though as i have only done 1000 miles

Thanks for all the comments appreciate it, still kind of tempted for the S20, balls to the mileage I want something that feels right. The write up in PB at the launch was good also.

Defo still open to be convinced other wise though!

I liked the BT014's I had fitted to my GSXR600-K4 but I was burning through a front and two rears a year even on a 600. I wouldn't put them on my blade as I'd be doing twice that a year.

Hey up mate. I was running the sportsmarts, brand new, and only about 60 miles on them when me n dave d met up with r1monkey. Monkey set off.as if he'd stolen it AND his tea was ready. I tried to keep up with him and during a set of twisties realised I hadn't quite scrubbed the boots in. But they never let go. In fact, the only problem I had was on a negative camber piss wet through greasy road which I overcooked anyway, and the front end slowly and predictably pushed wide, but no real drama as I just stood on the rear brake and all was good. So it's a big thumbs up from me for the sportsmarts.

Just had a rare thought! How are the tyre pressures this would make a massive differance (And save you a bit of bread)

Metzeler m5 G, fab in the wet, and fab for fast road and hooning. Last ages too.
Tyres are a preference to everyone, but after having bridgestones, Pirelli and Dunslips..they suit me. I'm going for a 55 rear next time, just for a change.
