September 1997 - with a dislocated knee cap after falling getting on the bike for my pre test lesson. Popped it back on (the cap) and did my test, there was no way I was missing my test. Examiner let me off the push u turn as I couldn't actually walk lol. A&e after my test followed by 12 months of physio and all was well.

    Hard man.

I've ridden with a broken ankle. I cut a notch out of the heel of a pair of cowboy boots so it could fit over the gear shift, then changed gear by moving the whole leg.

Looks like I'm up there with the oldest, promised my parents at 16 not to get a moped but wait for a car.Passed my car test in '79 at 17 but hated it, so bought a bike and passed in march '80.

Late spring/early summer 1970 still only 16 (just). Round the block anti-clockwise then round the block clockwise, emergency stop, about 3 questions on road signs and off with the 'L' plates. Does that make you feel better Ken?

Jan 1980 on a GT250M. The test cost £13 then, wonder what it costs for a complete beginner to obtain a full license today?

Jeez, if I were a cynical sort I would wonder if there isn't some plot by men in grey suits to deter people from taking up biking
