Bike washed for the second time.
Just didn't look quite right after last nights effort.
It's been playing on my mind all day whilst at work "along with keeping up with this thread;)" so I just gave the Blade another lathering in the rain.
Much better, cleaning can now commence, and looking at the weather forecast, I'm going to have plenty of time.

Washed mine today, fairy liquid to get the shite off, left the cover off the bike, and let the pure, natural rain water give it ph neutral rinse for 5 hours.... Lol.

    Looks mint again.

Insider knowledge to be sure. Are you not concerned about the electrolyte levels of Fairy Liquid, Si?

Sounds lovely. Here in Teesside the ph level of the rain water is as good for degreasing the bike prior to washing :D

Not at all. It makes a great de-greasing shampoo for hair, so if you can slap it on your Barnett, you can wash said bike with it.

Well your hair doesn't mind a handful of salt and water though does it.

I also heard that Fairy liquid is such an effective degreaser that it takes the polish off the bike. And contains fairly high levels of salt. Could be an urban myth, mind.

I use Turtle Wax car shampoo. There are generally deals on it around. I got a 5 litre bottle of it for buttons.

It's no myth mate, household washing up liquid is very high in salts, hence the "squeaky clean" ads of the '80s. When we process film we use a wetting agent that lets them dry without marks on. It consists of everything that's in a washing up liquid except the salts, else it would destroy the emulsion.
